This CD has songs from Ron's solo stuff, especially from his "Slide On This" release (which was from around the same time as these recordings), a few tunes from the Stones which are really his (or with Keith Richards), and from his time with Rod Stewart and the Faces. His renditions of the Faces songs make you realize who was behind the Faces' hits (have you heard Rod Stewart do Faces songs live - lame!), Ronnie is terrific and you can tell he's having tons of fun on stage."Live and Eclectic" is one dynamite CD, full of punch and licks tastefully done live. If you've heard his solo stuff you know about his eclectic tastes and talents (which are rarely exploited to their fullest by the Stones), and he brings this to his stage. Sure, its full of hot rockinRoll boogie, but there are some really tight and tasty moments here. Really great. To hear the band do "Flying" and "I Can Feel The Fire" on the extra CD is really wonderfull. You know the crowd is all with him on these songs and everybody's having one hell of a great time. The booklet is OK with a fair number of reproductions of his work. One heck of a painter to boot! |
