"each track leaping from the discs ~ Motley Crue",
This review is from: Live - Entertainment or Death (Audio CD)
Motley Crue music-junkies this is the first "Live" album, featuring Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, Mick Mars and Tommy Lee which includes a special video of "WILD SIDE". Hip-O Records sends us "Entertainment Or Death", a double package of non-stop music that you grew to love and remains strong today. Listen to this and realize the artistic freedom with every track of their double album ~ each track leaping from the discs. Their creativity is classic and you know at once you're completely hooked. Tight harmony and lyrical genius prevail as the groups contagious beat and tempo mixed with raw energy take us into a land of frenzy. And what makes this album even better, it is specially priced ~ gotta love it!Total: 2-CD-Set ~ Hip-O Records 440-067-638-2 ~ (4/08/2003)

What can I say?? This is one of the best "LIVE" CD's of all time! Let's face it, most "Live" albums sacrifice some music quality and clarity. Not this one! This "LIVE" CD puts the listener at the front of the stage with Motley's sweat & booze falling right on them!! A must have for someone who hasn't had the "sinful" pleasure of attending a Motley show! Buy this CD, close your eyes, and YOU WILL be there!!!

Motley Crue's only "live" album,"Live-Entertainment or Death" is entertaining.I like it.First of all, don't get confused-this is NOT an official live album. It is a collection of Motley Crue's live performances on two discs;the songs on here that Motley Crue performed live that were selected were performed live in the seventeen year time span of 1982-1999.Think of it as a greatest hits package of Motley Crue's greatest songs all performed live. Pretty much all of The Crue's classic songs from 1982-1991 are here, and some performances of Crue songs that usually do NOT appear on their compilations(Knock 'Em Dead,Kid,Public Enemy #1,Merry-Go-Round,Ten Seconds To Love, etc.)were included here. And here's more good news-there are some rare photos inside the liner notes and also inside the CD case(You'll see the photos in there when You take disc two out to put it on and listen to it)and Paul Miles,a die hard Crue fan, wrote a few small notes about Motley Crue and their concerts-the packaging of this two disc collection of live songs is really nice. They even mentioned the dates the songs on here were performed live and who recorded and enginnered them. And don't forget about this-disc two is enhanced with Motley Crue's classic video for "Wild Side"-how cool is that????!!!! Very cool!!!!Even though there is not to much to complain about with this CD,a few things could be brought up,which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. The sound on here,at times,is a little bit poor, and on SOME performances on this CD,Vince Neil's voice is a little bit shot at times. And what's up with Motley Crue's live performances of The Beatles'"Helter Skelter" that was selected for this CD? Don't get me wrong,I like The Beatles,I like that song, and I also think Motley Crue did a good job at re-doing it when it came time for them to make their "Shout At The Devil" album. But the live version of it on here is embarrasing-it should have remained shelved and replaced with a live performance of "You're All I Need",which was originally written and recorded for "Girls,Girls,Girls".But everything else here, for the most part,is in top form-the best live performances on here are Motley Crue's live cover version(they also recorded it in a studio, just so You don't get confused)of Brownsville Station's "Smokin' In The Boys Room"(you even hear a harmonica accompany the music and lyrics of this track during the performance, and Vince Neil's dialogue on it is pretty funny),and the live version of "Shout At The Devil"-I won't give it away, but wait until you hear it-it sounds awesome! Check this out-hopefully other hair metal groups like Slaughter,Warrant, etc. who have released live albums before(Motley Crue has not yet released any official live albums of one concert, but I heard that they are releasing a DVD of them live and in concert on their current reunion tour next year)will do exactly what The Crue has done here.

Just been to the Crue Fest this summer. From this CD you can hear that Vince is in better shape now even my 14 year old son recognized that his voice now was much better than this CD. Except for lesser qaulity of Vince' voice, this is good to remember the ggreat live performance. I would recommend the "Carnival of Sins" live CD if you have to choose.

If the Michael Savage radio show can use "Looks That Kill" in the opening theme, then you know there's music here that is strong enough to transcend it's "genre": metal, rock and roll, rock... I'm more '50s, '60s, so the song "Girls! Girls! Girls!" has personal reference as a Coasters/Elvis Presley tune of the same title. But MC's number stands on its' own - a classic, done even better on stage."Dr. Feelgood" is another songtitle found elsewhere but while in playback stands up for counting. Tommy Lee is a great stylist and for new fans this is not a bad place to start studying his work.
