3.0 out of 5 stars Thrash metal...But Ive Heard WAY better, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
Evildead...yet another 80s thrash metal band. However these guys...arent nearly as good as the others Ive heard. There only live album ever- Live From the Depths of the Underworld...is, well for one not from the depths of hell but rather the depths of somewhere in Europe (the inside just says recorded while on the tour of Europe). This band is thrash, they are heavy and they have attitude...but something is SERIOUSLY missing. After the first few tracks im bored already.
Maybe its the band memebers? The singer doesnt have an evil voice that sounds like Lucifer shouting, but more like a pissed of Raider's fan from LA (which he is). The guitar is just standard guitar chords and a little bit of tremolo. The drumming- NOTHING special at all. But what else is missing...well I guess another element I look for in thrash that these guys dont have are evil lyrics about hell and dying. These guys would rather write about Global Warming, The...Hood (?) and going shootin'. There are of course some songs like Annhilation and Darkness but you see what Im getting at. What Im really trying to point out is...for anyone into bands like Kreator, Destruction, Sodom and Possessed...you will just laugh when you hear this album so why bother? I dont see the point. I do give this a 3 star rating because 1- Its 80's thrash either way and 2- nothing deserves below a 3 other than nu-metal garbage like Slipknot or lamb of god.
