While the audio and video quality is understandably poor, these clips from Keith Green concerts capture for us the most powerful moments of this short-lived musical legacy. While Keith's studio work was classic, his live worship events were life-shaking. Even in the initial studio recordings, the producers had to replicate a setting in which Keith was playing and singing at the same time. Simply singing on one track, then playing on another, failed to capture the tremendous spiritual energy in Keith.

This two disc set presents the artist in his purest, most powerful form. He has only his voice, a piano, and a large group of worshippers. It is the way I remember the concert I attended in 1979 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

If you want crystal clear, studio quality recordings of Keith, you'll need to look elsewhere. If you want to hear and see Keith at his best, and can get past the low quality audio and video, then this CD set for you is a must-buy.

Keith's studio recordings have been available in various arrangements for at least two decades. What has not been available until now is the live recordings of his musical events.

If you're a diehard fan of Keith Green like I am, buy this set. If you want to learn more about the personality and the ministry style of Keith Green, buy the set. If you just want more of the same studio quality material that's been available since the plan crashed in 1982, then order
more studio recordings.

For me, I couldn't have been happier with my purchase.

I couldn't wait to get this CD when I saw it was coming out! I picked it up the day it came out and haven't really stopped listening to it since. Contrary to what I read in previous reviews, I actually thought the sound quality was rather good considering it was live. And it also showed, to me, that Keith didn't need a band. He could do with just the Holy Spirit, the keys, and his voice, what many big name groups and individuals have failed to do, and that is impact an entire generation during his life and thousands ever since his untimely death. He didn't need a band to bring in the anointing. He carried it with him. I love that the raw intensity that was Keith Green really comes through in this release. Definitely worth picking up! I for one haven't stopped listening to it, and was also introduced to some songs I've never heard before that I've already added into my song set for church. I already use a lot of Keith's stuff when I lead worship, this only added to the selection. 5 star rating here.

What I see in Keith Green's ministry is an arrow pointing to Jesus, and a love for lost souls. He was truly born again! That's what comes through, and that's what he would have wanted to come through. Primarily, he was a minister and an evangelist who preached the Gospel using the gift of music that God had given him, and obeyed the Lord when he felt the Lord tell him not to charge for his music or charge to attend his concerts(which were more like worship services.) If you want to be refreshed, stirred and encouraged in the Lord, in a day when much of the preaching is sterile and passionless, and often void of truth (google Keith Green Catholic Chronicles), I would highly recommend this CD/DVD. It's not about the quality of the music (which isn't bad) it's about the fruit of the Spirit. Keith Green was real.

When I hear the word "documentary" I usually am not very excited......but now there is a new standard for the word!!!!! The passion that this man had for Jesus Christ permeates through the vision/words/music on the screen; and Keith Green's personal relationship with Him sparks a flame in one's own. If you want to get renewed....about your own relationship with Jesus or if you want to meet HIM for the first time, WATCH THIS DVD. The greatest thing about it is that it is not religious......just real.

This is a must have album for every Keith Green fan. While I question the reasoning of behind some of the track choices, (I'm sure there must have been better recordings for some of the songs), there is an indescribable power in his live recordings that for some reason didn't make it into his studio albums ... as great as they were. This album will disappoint those who judge based on sound quality and musical arrangement. Often times, Keith even makes mistakes in his playing and singing. However, despite all of this, it is not difficult to feel the intense passion that was emanating from the heart of this legend. The DVD included with this album is all the more intense. Upon hearing this album and watching this DVD you will laugh, weep, and even question the direction of your life. I highly recommend this album to anyone looking to escape from the superficial and shallow world that Contemporary Christian Music was become. In the world of Contemporary Christian Music; there is Keith Green and then there is everyone else.

This a great piece. I have been looking forward for this for a long time. As a Keith Green fan who just recently discovered him, this CD/DVD allows an up close intimate look at the man and his music. The songs are all great, and the DVD allows the watcher to see the intensity and passion to which Keith played. The only drawback was that the CD did not have some notable hit songs (He'll take care of the rest). I had to download them from the Greatest hits album that came out the same day and add it to my Keith Green Live playlist. If you are a Keith Green fan/ or are just curious then get this product, you wont be disappointed!

For those who are expecting the production of his studio albums may want to pass on this collection. This recording serves as a document of Keith Green performing live... no frills, no hits and its near bootleg sound quality ensures that this may be a one or two listen disc. However, the best reason to get this is for the DVD half of this collection. 4 hours worth of Keith speaking singing joking around.... definitely worth the price of the set, but the audio is totally forgettable.

Update January 2012: My opinion of this recording still stands. In fact, I think that over the last three years I have listened to this "zero" times. The DVD got played about six months ago, and I even ripped a concert from the audio of one of them... now that concert, I *have* listened to. Makes me wonder why the record company did not use that for the audio portion of the record.

I would highly recommend this. Keith Green stands out as a jewel amidst a multitude of contemporary christian misfits. While these misfits plot their careers all in the name of "I'm doing Ministry" and more interested in making "hits" and being in the limelight and having crowds serve their worldly appetites, Keith Green ACTUALLY did Ministry. You can see (going through the videos) where Keith went from saved entertainer to doing jokes as prelude to his serious messages to full-throttle Evangelist (I never saw Keith as a Prophet but as a True Committed Christian).

I gave it 4 Stars as it this product shows Keith's Conviction but does not follow it. It has plenty of "anti-privacy" placard on it and Keith would have never gone for it. I have always felt that Christianity lost a great evangelistic opportunity when peer-to-peer started as the Gospel could have been spread like wildfire. Instead, the Christian Community's lack of faith that God can provide and desire for material wealth and idol-ness has decided to fight against this opportunity. If Keith was alive today and heard that his music and message was being downloaded all over the world instead of being paid for, he would be jumping up and down, excitingly praising Jesus Christ that the Gospel was being spread. Maybe you can't survive as a Christian Record Label with this model but, if you're a Christian Record Label, this shouldn't be your first concern anyways. Keith Green did just fine giving his albums away for free and, even today, his music and message is still producing fruit VS CCM barrenness (Keith seeked souls for Salvation; CCM artists seek fans and fans clubs).

My husband and I have listened to Keith Green's music since I became a born-again Christian in 1982... His music is truly annointed. Too bad he has been gone so long. Anyway, this set has a documentary with it and biography so it's an especially great set to add to your collection of music and dvd's.

What a great look into the heart and spirit of Keith Green. The footage from concerts really helps to bring his words to life and show how honest he was. No made up personna here, just a man who loved the Lord and sang about it.
