Proving their worth once again.,
By ENTER the DRAGON (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
When bands do live albums, it proves whether they are talented or produced well. For example, several people complain about Sunny Day Real Estate's live album, claiming they sound terrible, and in general is not a good album. See, thats because they are not a good band. You can blame a studio album on engineers, producers, whomever, but Live albums, its the band and the dat. Period. You can't argue with it. It proves a bands worth and is VERY indicative of their true abilities. Well Face to Face proves that they are one of the best live bands out there (as if there was ever a question.) Every track has a fantastic energy. The sound is raw and tight. There is not one moment of disappointment on this whole CD. Face to Face live is the way they are meant to be heard, and for those who have not had the privilege of seeing them live, this is the next best thing. I recommend it to ANYONE who likes live music.

Wow,

I had the pleasure of seeing Face to Face live a few years ago and they played one of the tightest, most intense sets I have ever seen any band play. This album proves to me that I didn't just catch them on a 'good night' -- every night is a good one for this band. What can I say? Muscially, these guys just blow your mind, and nothing proves that more than a live performance. This CD is brilliantly produced (for a live album) and really catpures the band's sound and the crowd noise. CLose your eyes and it feels like you're there. Classic F2F tunes appear (too many to mention) and the delivery is seamless. A great place to start for the new F2F fans and a must-have CD for fans of great punk and great rock and roll.

They do it better than most. Better than 90% and their longevity proves it. Sure, Trever Keith has his "I am a punk rock god" attitude sometimes, but so does Mike Ness of Social Distortion and no one gets on his case about it. The songs here are first rate, they really manage to cull a great assortment of the best tunes from their semi-lengthy (for a pop-punk band) career. The between-song banter is kept to a strict minimum and barely there at all. Crowd noise is practically non-existant (did you really think TK was going to let the crown noise get in the way of recording his voice?) And if there is one flaw in it, and there is, it is the mixing. Why any sort of "punk" band wants their live album to be mixed something like a Fleetwood Mac album is beyond me. The low end isn't low enough, the high end is too high, TK's voice is (surprise!) FRONT-ROW CENTER and at the expense of the guitars! I honestly had to strain to hear the melody in certain tracks, which is unfortunate, as these performances are very good and very accurate. Some are a little speedier than on record (bad case of "Ramones-itis" there) but all of them sound great... if it weren't for the guitars being buried in the mix.Yes, Trever, we can hear you! Now go turn up the guitars!

This is without a doubt my favorite live record ever recorded. Every song is solid. The sound quality is great for a live recording. Most live recordings annoy me, but this one rocks. Great sound and great songs. I miss this band a lot.

Best Live Album Ever,

Of all the live albums I've heard, this is easily the best. The EQ'ing and performance are top notch. If you like Face To Face (or punk rock for that matter) you have to have this album. Consider it a "Best of Face To Face" album but even more spectacular due to the fact they're actually playing this live. My favorite Face To Face album and a top 10 favorite album of all time.

Just listen to it... you will agree. I can wax poetic about what a great CD this is, but it speaks for itself. Buy this now. It's as good as music gets.
