What a pleasant surprise. This set is an excellent companion piece to the hot live half of 1997's "Paul Rodgers: Now & Live." The set list is similar, but it's Paul's heaviest concert nod yet to his years in Free ("I'll Be Creepin', "The Stealer," "Ride On A Pony," "Be My Friend," "Fire And Water," "Wishing Well," "All Right Now," "I'm A Mover," "The Hunter"). There are also 4 Bad Company tracks ("Bad Company," "Feel Like Makin' Love," "Can't Get Enough," "Seagull") and one from the short-lived Rodgers-Page band The Firm, "Radioactive." Rodgers leads a band well-versed in his legacy through a total of 17 tracks, one of them new ("Warboys [A Prayer For Peace]"). Great selection of songs, Paul's in fine voice, the band is hot, what more could you possibly ask for other than "next day delivery from Amazon?"

Well, obviously the best thing about this release is that Paul is digging back into FREE days.
Ten of seventeen tracks are reprised FREE songs, thank you Mr.Rodgers. I first saw FREE in 1970, and Paul's voice is better now; though there can be no substitute for Koss ... his alter-ego. This CD will get no media play... A sad testimony to the state of ho' music airwaves.... Am I banned now?

Paul Rodgers "Live in Glasgow", is an excellent concert. Paul's band covers many of the old hits from "Free" and also Bad Company. Paul is one of the best Rock singers of all time, and his band does a great job. You will not be disappointed.

I have been a huge fan of Paul Ridgers since I received my first 'Free' album for my 16th birthday in the early 70s. As good rock music becomes harder and harder to find these days, I returned to my roots and reintroduced Paul into my current favorites which has reinstated him to hero status once again. Highly recommended to all Free/Bad Company/or blues fans. I loved it so much I have bought the DVD also and it is excellent (especially when played in DTS on a good home theatre system). Long live the King.

I've always preferred his studio work, but this album really is amazing. Good variety, talented band, and excellent recording.

This is a great concert, if you like Paul Rodgers you'll love this one. The band is an all American band, and very tight. You'll hear all the great songs associated with Free, Bad Company, & Firm. The only thing at all that is missing is songs from Paul's solo albums. These albums are as good as anything he's ever recorded, he needs to add some of these songs to his concerts. Don't hesitate, the price is right and the concert is tight.

I've had this for only two days and this CD is pretty much as good as I expected. There are some excellent new versions of Free songs, The Stealer, I'll Be Creepin, I'm a Mover, Ride a Pony and Be My Friend as well as more recognizable Free classics like All Right Now, Fire and Water, Wishing Well and The Hunter.
The Bad Company songs include Can't Get Enough, Bad Company, Seagull and Feel Like Makin Love with a nice bit of harmonica added. We even get a solid version of the 80's MTV classic from the Firm, Radioactive and a song from the Muddy Water Blues album, Lousiana Blues. The two new songs War Boys and the lighter I Just Want to See You Smile are both quite good as well. Paul's put together a good band here with some fresh takes on the Free classics. If you're a Paul Rodgers fan this is a can't miss. I can't wait for the companion DVD out next month. |
