Inserted in a state-of-the-art Panasonic DMP-BD35 Blu-Ray Player with latest firmware version 1.7, the disc plays fine all the way through the long promotional trailer, which advertises several Universal Music Blu-ray titles including this one. At the end of trailer the player simply STOPS!. The menu for the Lionel Richie content never comes up and CANNOT BE ACCESSED! I tried every conceivable "work around" to try to get it to play Lionel Richie content. I own over 60 Blu-ray discs, all of which play fine in this player and I am not new to Blu-ray having owned a Panasonic DMP-BD10a before this player. The same thing happened with TW0 (2) Blu-ray discs. The first one I purchased via amazon.com/uk. The second one I purchased from amazon.com Same result. Last year, I ordered this title on standard DVD and one whole channel would not play. Lionel Richie should be upset and FIRE somebody! Absolutely ridiculous! And very frustrating, expensive and time consuming for this fan!

I purchased the DVD format which has very poor sound quality. More like 2.0 rather than 5.0. The Blu Ray is truly 5.0!!! If you have surround sound, do not purchase the DVD, or you will be extremely disppointed as I was. B-ray is the way to go! This is a must have for Commodore or LRichie fans.

After reading the previous reviews, it was with trepidation that I ordered this anyway. I am very glad I did. I was ready to be disappointed when I popped it in, anticipating the disc would not play back per the other reviews. I am using a PS3 with the latest firmware, and it plays back with no problem. Plays the promotional trailer, brings up the menu, lets you select your options, etc. BTW, I ordered through a reseller on Amazon, so not sure if that makes a difference which inventory you get the disc from.

The disc itself displays in 1080i format, and I thought the picture looked pretty good. It wasn't awe inspiring, as some 1080p discs I've seen, but pretty good picture quality nonetheless. It was not grainy or anything like that. As for audio, it does have a lossless audio option - DTS-HD MA. All speaker channels worked fine with this option. The concert itself features some great songs, including Commodores hits, I believe 22 songs in all. Also has a behind the scenes special, as well as 2 music videos.

If you're on the fence, give the BluRay a try. If you get a working copy, it's a very nice piece to add to your music collection.

The quality of music on this Blu-ray is amazing. I played it for friends and family while I was cooking at my house and everybody loved it. I think they will be purchasing this Blu-Ray soon. He sang all of my favorite songs. Definitely a must buy.

I had been waiting a long time for Lionel Richie to put out a concert DVD. I saw him in concert in Albuquerque a few years ago and he put on one of the best concerts I had ever seen. I purchased the Lionel Richie Paris Blue Ray DVD and enjoyed it very much. Lionel is an awsome entertainer and has a way of engaging his audience in every concert. His songs brought back a lot of great memories.

I think it has a serious recording problem. My player is a Denon 3800BDCI and the BD just plays the trailer and then it stop... Well, I was refunded by Amazon but I lost money...

I just received this Blu-ray and loaded the disc for review.

1. This disc has some issues with the Main Menu. The Main menu can only be adjusted after the concert program actually starts.
2. It locked up my Blu-ray player during the first song. Lost all functionality. I had to unplug the player to kill the process.
3. The picture quality is DVD like, not Blu-Ray (lacked vividness and high definition)
4. The sound quality protrayed Lionel like he was singing in the background instead of upfront.
5. I gave it two stars because of the songs (have been a long time Richie/Commodores fan)
I am not sure what has caused all these issues - Region conversions? Bad transfers? Getting the product to market without proper reviews?

Hope someone from the Richie organization (including Lionel himself) sees these reviews and get these issues corrected. It should not be about making money but giving us a product that is worth the money. At this time this Blu-ray is not worth it, it falls in the category of being just OK.

I've had my blu-ray for a while now and it works fine on both my Panasonic blu-ray players. The only thing is that there is a long introduction/prologue/buildup that one can not fast forward on. You have to wait (and watch it) until it finishes and then one may access the menu.

Basically, the concert is one big lovefest. Lionel Ritchie loves Paris. He loves France. He loves the French audience. His fans love him. They love his singing. We all love him too.

This concert is long, with songs from the Commodores to his duet with Diana Ross to his solo career. Here's the set list.

The concert is quite enjoyable and fun. Sometimes, it's one big party, a sing along, a solo song with Mr. Ritchie on the piano, or there may be songs with the band members. Mr. Ritchie really energizes and entertains, pleasing the Parisian crowd (and me). He sings as good as he ever did, and he looks almost the same as he ever looked in his career, with a strong youthful vigor. Did you watch the TV show, "Who Do You Think You Are?," where he traces his roots to the 19th century? Mr. Ritchie looks pretty much the same as he does on the TV show.

Picture is fine on high def 1080 and sound is fine through the TV speakers.
