Vikki Carr possesses one of the finest voices in Popular Music history but sadly has not been given her just due by the music industry in her own country. Vikki Carr became the Legendary Superstar that her talent warrants with the release of her superb Spanish language albums which are all sung with breathtaking vocal beauty and deeply felt passionate emotion. From the early sixties through the seventies Vikki recorded many classic LP's in English but it was her Spanish albums that gave her the acclaim she richly deserves. "It Must Be Him" was the lone token English mega-hit exception and the soulful live version from the Greek Theatre concert is a winner. Even though radio was not playing Vikki Carr records because she wasn't a singer/songwriter, (that tired 70's formula was a requirement for some goofy reason in this bleak musical era until Disco came along and then the music world plunged artistly to deeper depths and we won't mention the current sad state of the music world) Vikki Carr concerts continue to be sold-out events that draw numerous standing ovations for her wonderful performing and great singing. This beautifully remastered 2CD set of "Live At The Greek Theatre" is a treasure chest of wonderful performances and it is great to experience this brilliant velvety soulful voice over and over again in a diverse program of great songs sung to absolute perfection! "Love Song" weaves through this gorgeous set of songs about love sung with vocal beauty and deeply passionate emotion that is unsurpassed. A soulfully sung "Spanish Medley" show this fiery DIVA at her best and the superb "Judy Garland Medley" is brilliant and would make Judy Garland smile down with approval and anyone who appreciates the best in great singers will not want to miss this extraordinary concert! This is a brilliant example of the Art Of Singing at its finest and Vikki Carr is still performing in peak form in concert and not to be missed as she is one of the all time greatest...thank you VIKKI CARR!!!

Vikki Carr's interpretation of "With Pen In Hand" is different in every recording. While the one in this album is perfectly nice and sentimental, if you like this song, you should also get the CD titled "It Must Be Him/For Once in My Life" featuring another version of the song she performed live in New York.

Oh what a beautiful day it was when I received this long awaited release! It beautifully captures Vikki Carr at her absolute greatest: in front of a live audience in 1973. Carr's versatility is very much in evidence, singing four highlights from her Grammy winning "En Espanol" album in Spanish as well as her time honored hits "It Must Be Him," "Can't take My Eyes Off You," and "With Pen in Hand." A high point of the concert is the Judy Garland medley where suddenly Carr disappears and it's Judy Garland singing! It's a performance that Ms. Garland would surely be nodding in approval and admiration. The sound is excellent and very well miked. The band is made up of excellent West Coast musicians (of the old "Tonight Show" vintage--hence the "hi-Yos!") led by the great Bob Florence. And to think Vikki Carr is STILL marvelous! Thank you Vikki for being a ray of sunshine for all of us!!

I enjoyed this trememdously. I will guess that the person from Arizona is probably from the sixties. Nonetheless, it shows the closed mindedness of that era that is still prominent today. I am a Chicana and never once thought that she was like Helen Reddy.
I will agree that the "General Hospital" story was not necessary but it does not detract from the rest of the concert. There is no denying that God gave her much talent and she was and still is very entertaining. I sang and hummed these songs for weeks after the concert. I was there at the Greek Theater that night.
I no longer have the record album and I plan on buying the CD so thank you Amazon making this available and bringing it back.

As to your comment about her "confusing musical period".
Vikki sang in English for awhile and then sang Spanish for awhile, BUT to call it confusing the styles she sings here, show the many types of music she can carry on her own.!...
How many singers do you know that can sing to two different types of people and still be doing the same 40 years later? Vikki has NEVER had a "confusing musical period", she has sung songs that reflect her musical roots and her fans requests. Vikki's got her act together and is still being asked by her fans to sing those same wonderful songs like you will find here. Due to that fact the record companies are re-releasing these song due to high demand for ALL of her music!...
NO ONE has ever said Vikki has ever been confused but you !...

Thanks to COLLECTABLES for a great job remastering this wonderful live timeless recording from 1973.
What memories of a great show this was still stands true today as it was back then.
All fans young and older can find great pleasure in this cd for older and current songs from this time(1973) are here.
I was amazed at how the current songs of the time became Vikki's own after she recorded them.

A timeless medley to Judy Garland has never been surpassed by no one to this date.(30 years later)
This cd has a taste of a great many styles for a lot of musical taste.
A classic then and a Classic today.
If you like LIVE recordings and are a fan of great music sung by one awesome singer , get THIS great reissue of the best live recording from the 70s.

vikki carr is a great artist, and sometimes, a live album can hit or miss.....this one HITS!....the songs she selected to perform are great, and the audio quality is too....i highly recommend this cd; you'll feel like you were on the first row that night, enjoying vikki's incredible voice in person.........

I enjoyed Vikki's concert in Nagoya,Japan about 30 years ago. It was the very splendid. This CD also offers Charm of superstar Vikki. Anyway, she is GREAT.

I have LP RECORD of this concert, and then I obtained this CD, and it is my important treasure both.

Vikki sings her heart out on a stage. She pours every ounce of her being into every song. She sings with such energy, such enthusiasm, such bravado. There is just a hint of her Spanish culture in her voice and her tone, which is what makes her singing so great.

I first heard this album, yes a vinyl LP, in 1973 and quickly added it to my collection. Vikki Carr is a very talented singer who can take you from a very fast paced and up song, to a slow sentimental ballad that brings tears. She is very proud of her heritage, as she should be, and introduces us to the beauty of Spanish Music. Her performance of Love Song, Daddy's Dream and Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You are perky and lively. From there she goes to I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now with real feeling and depth.

My personal favorite of this performance is her rendition of Bobby Goldsboro's classic hit With Pen in Hand. Many artists have performed this heart rendering song, but never have I heard it with such feeling and emotion. Perhaps there was something going on in her life at this time that this song was so emotional to her, whatever, the result is a performance far beyond anyone else's and received a standing ovation by this audience.

I no longer have a turntable to listen to my vinyl collection, but I keep them in the hopes that someday I can convert them. Needless to say, when I heard this performance was now available on CD, I immediately bought it and enjoy it all over again, as I did over 25 years ago. Her work is timeless and just as beautiful now.

I had the original record years ago and I couldn't bee happier that this was available in CD. This unique performance by Vikki Carr should be part of her fans collection. It reminds me of the only time I saw her perform live!!!!!!!!!
