The most challenging task I know in the world is parenting children and teens. We can take a course in cooking, foreign language, golf, tennis, racquetball and an awful lot of skills. There are very few courses in parenting. My belief is parenting is a skill that could be taught and no matter how much you know, you can learn more. How to Live Harmoniously With Your Children & Teens gives you basic skills that will increase your parenting abilities and help you parent children and teens in the challenging 1990's. I've often thought I'd like to see a law where parents could take classes in parenting of children and teens at the local high school or university in the evenings or on Saturday's. There isn't anything I know that's more complex or complicating than parenting, yet there are very few resources for parents to learn the basic skills. This material has been developed over 25 years of doing counseling and therapy with children, teens and families. Almost all of us have very busy lives. We have husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, children, second jobs, courses at night, activities. This material is easy to listen to. You can put it into place immediately after you listen to the cassette tapes. Each cassette is a 35- to 45-minutes and the skills can immediately be put into practice after listening to the cassette tape. I am real proud of our cassette series and its ability to help parents help their children almost immediately. We all want so much for our children and teens to do well in school, to have friends, to grow up with good self- esteem and be able to stand up to the incredible peer-group pressures around the areas of drugs, sex, kids who don't do well I school, criminal justice activity and gangs.
