Biography

Though they had all the trappings of a Southern-fried blues band, Little Feat were hardly conventional. Led by songwriter/guitarist Lowell George, Little Feat were a wildly eclectic band, bringing together strains of blues, R&B, country, and rock & roll. The bandmembers were exceptionally gifted technically and their polished professionalism sat well with the slick sounds coming out of ... Read more in Amazon's Little Feat Store

Editorial Reviews

Little Feat are one of the most influential American bands of the seventies. Founded by Lowell George and Bill Payne in L.A. during 1969; they produced a series of highly original albums over the next decade featuring an eclectic blend of rock n roll, blues, country, folk, soul and jazz before the death of Lowell George in 1979 brought the first phase of the band s existence to an end. This CD & DVD set captures the band s performance at the famous Dutch festival Pinkpop on June 7th, 1976 and captures the band s classic line-up at the peak of their powers performing many of their best known tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Another Treat for Fans Of FEAT......" April 23, 2014
Format:Audio CD
Fans of LITTLE FEAT, especially the classic Lowell George era, can rejoice, Eagle Vision has released LIVE IN HOLLAND, the source of the extra footage on the Rockpalast Live DVD. Filmed at Holland's PinkPop Festival a year before the Rockpalast concert, the band perform material from SAILIN' SHOES, DIXIE CHICKEN, FEATS DON'T FAIL ME NOW and THE LAST RECORD ALBUM. The sound on the 11 Track CD is good, with excellent stereo separation, just a little fuzzy here and there. Opener "Skin It Back" is a little rough in the beginning until the sound mixer gets it together, which is usually the case on '70's concert recordings, and the vocal mic drops out a bit on "One Love Stand," but that might have been Lowell George turning away momentarily. In between those they bring the funk with "Fat Man In The Bathtub." George and the band are at their apex, with his stinging singing razor sharp slide guitar and soulful growling voice in full flower. Everyone seems to be having a good time as well, occasionally throwing percussion instruments and picks into the crowd. Lowell's guitar duel with Paul Barrere on "Oh, Atlanta" is one of the discs many highlights. Unfortunately we don't get to watch it, for some reason that and "One Love Stand" don't appear on the DVD, but the edit before and after "Rock And Roll Doctor," performed in between, are spotless. 5.0 out of 5 stars SOLID! April 23, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
GET THIS! Finally...The dvd is priceless, great quality, the band is cookin'. The dvd is missing two tunes that are on the great quality cd..no film? If only there was more officially released stuff from earlier Little Feat outside of the Musicladen dvd. If you can find it, the London show with Mick Taylor is great; similar era. But this……THIS is a great outdoor show! You are onstage with the band, pro-shot multiple cameras, fine sound. Wow! If you are a Feat fan, do not hesitate; buy this now! Thank you whoever made up their minds to release this.. 38 years!!!... later. Who knows what else is out there?

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost All That You Dreamed April 27, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This package included the DVD, and I guess I missed the fine print because I wasn't expecting that. But I'm so glad it did. We haven't seen nearly enough Lowell George on camera. He amazes with his casual style that belies his extreme talent. Watch him rip into perfectly-intoned slide guitar solos a couple of beats behind his vocal lines. It's amazing. The sound is a little grainy and lo-fi, but that was to be expected. Don't "Wait For Columbus" -- that is a whole other dimension. This is certainly more real, and a great illustration of how the band operated. I docked it one star for the awkward camera angles and general weirdness of the stage set-up, which did not lend itself to good band communication and was way too high above the crowd. The band is disconnected visually but they make up for it by reading each others musical moves perfectly. This was well worth the investment. I'll play it any time I want to try to convert someone to the mighty powers of Mr. George.

4.0 out of 5 stars Feats Don't Fail Me! April 23, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Talk about being transported back in time!! These guys used to come through Arkansas back in the mid to late '70's as part of the southern rock circuit with Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels et al. This is exactly how I remember them playing in the old Barton Coliseum! Their brand of southern fried rock with swingin' soul/funk was always a crowd pleaser! This cd/dvd set captures them at the height of their Lowell George infused powers! Great stuff! If you care anything about Little Feat you need to pick this one up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Time Capsule April 25, 2014
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
Any unreleased material from the Lowell George era is always welcome. Despite the fact that this set has been widely available online, the release of this package is quite welcome. Highlights for me include the two three-song medleys (a Feat staple) as well as "One Love Stand."

A must have for any FeatFan and highly recommended for any RockFan.

I have been a fan for many decades. They truly were greater than the sum of the parts. Lowell George will always be the "Feat Guy".

5.0 out of 5 stars Vintage Little Feat! July 18, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Little Feat was one of the great American bands in the 70's. This live CD/DVD package captures the band with a very enthusiastic Lowell George leading the way. The band is tight and I must say that Kenny Gradney's bass playing really anchors the music. You can't go wrong with this purchase. It's such a reasonable price and a great showcase for Little Feat.
