I have been a fan of Godsmack for a very long time and have been awaiting a live CD for years. My wish has finally come true. Live & Inspired has arrived with an amazing song line up. Having seen Godsmack live myself on two occasions I can honestly say that this is a band who knows how to play live. The live shows are a non stop rock thrill ride that kicks Major Ass! Sully is a ball of energy and fire that blazes across the stage creating one of the best live shows I have seen. One of my favorite parts of the show is Sully and Shannon's Batalla De Los Tambores. Two full drum sets move onto the stage and these two amazing drummers start bashing away battling back and forth and playing in time with one another. It is an awe inspiring sight. I was so excited to hear it live on this album. All the songs are and sound awesome capturing the feel, energy, and magic of the live show. The covers are Great. I especially like the Metallica cover. The piano arrangement and Sully's vocals combine to make a truly awesome song even more haunting and beautiful than the original. I can not wait until I get the chance to see Godsmack live again but until then I have Live & Inspired. This is a Great live CD and a must have for all Godsmack fans.

One listen to this album, and you get a great feel for what this band is really about... Live performance. Godsmack may spend a lot of time in the studio, making new music and recording awesome cover songs for their fans, but the place they love, live, and breathe, is the stage! They play their songs to sound perfection, with an unmatched energy, as stated by numerous touring partners, and countless concert goers. This album represents a collection of their biggest hits, and fan favorites, played loud, fast, heavy, and full of power.
Included here, and songs like "Keep Away" with a nicely extended jam session, and "Whatever" with that added bonus of some nice classic rock snippets mixed in. Also here, is the long awaited non-DVD version of Sully Erna and Shannon Larkin's dual drum solo "Batallas De Los Tamboras." This track alone is worth the price of the album. Other hit songs include "Speak," "Moon Baby," "Awake," "I Stand Alone," "Straight Outta Line," and many more.
The sound here is mixed better than I've ever heard on a live album. The crowd is there, but the music and vocals are so far in front, it sounds like you're on stage with the band.
The bonus disc is something else all together. Four of the band's favorite classic songs, done in the way only Godsmack can. These guys know how to coer a song, and make it their own, without stripping the original soul from the recording. "Rocky Mountain Way," "Come Together," Pink Floyd's "Time," and an amazingly haunting, Piano and Keyboard version of "Nothing Else Matters." They leave nothing to be desired.
If you're a Godsmack fan, or a fan of Live rock albums in geneeral, this is a must have recording. I you're not familiar with the band, this album would be an excellent place to start.

I would also recommend listening to their cover of Sabbath's "Sweet Leaf," from Nativity in Black 2, and their blistering remake of Zeppelin's "Good Times, Bad Times," from 'Smack's "Best of" album.

I'll have to admit, the only reason I am buying this CD was for Rocky Mountain Way. When I first heard Rocky Mountain Way, it was the last chorus and I was hooked. I knew the song, but I couldn't remember who the original artist was; so I looked it up. When I heard the song from the beginning, I loved it! I have to have this song. I decided to buy the whole CD instead of just the song because I love all the songs on these CDs. Happy Listening!!
