Leave improv to the masters..., December 1, 2000
This review is from: Live at Jazz Cafe (Audio CD)
Don't let the name fool you, this is by all means a King Crimson release. Side projects like this give members of the band time to develop a new sound and chart other areas of our musical consciousness. The explorations on this particular outing arn't always comfortable or easy on ones ears, but by the fourth of fifth I think you'll understand. For the series of the Projects, Robert Fripp split King Crimson's members into sub groups. As Mr. Frippp says "The Fractlisation of King Crimson in an effort to function as research and development units on behalf, and for, the greater Crim." (from the inner notes of Projeckt Two) Projeckt one was the first King Crimson sub group planned , and the second into action. Bill Bruford, Robert Fripp, Trey Gunn and Tony Levin improvised four nights of music at the Jazz Cafe in Londen, December 1 - 4th. 1997 Projeckt Two is a double album and a must have. ... If your looking for something different and expermintal, get this. If your looking for the same old thing, you won't have trouble finding that unfortuatly.
