4.0 out of 5 stars Bellson band tears it up!, July 18, 2011
This review is from: Live at Jazz Showcase (Audio CD)
For this quartet set, drummer Louie Bellson is teamed up with the underrated but great tenor Don Menza, pianist Larry Novak and bassist John Heard. Each of the musicians has their features, with Menza hard-driving on "Sonny Side" and switching to flute for the waltz "3 P.M.," Heard stretching out on "Jam for Your Bread," Novak taking several spots and Bellson tearing into "Cherokee."
