Live at the 501 club was a smoking (if poorly recorded0 date, this one's even hotter. Great compostions and reworkings of classics (wonderful take on Sidewinder). Marcus Strickland is a true MF!! Buy this disc for yourself. For your friends. Along with Jason Moran And the Bandwagon, this is a clearer direction for the future of Jazz than Bad Plus, Diana Krall and Soulive.Precison. Passion.Terrific solos and ensemble playing. Lonnie's the one.

This cd is a lesson of groove,sometimes Jazzy,sometimes funky,and the sound is amazing as always with "village records"
