Some with backup band and some solo, this reminds me of the Moody Blues when they were at their best.

Anyone who is an avid Moody Blues/Justin Hayward fan will really appreciate this solo concert, showcasing Justin's sensitive and passionate voice.

I hadn't heard of this CD so out came my money and this was safely tucked into my wife's purse while we enjoyed the show.

I took the wife to see The Moody Blues on one of their annual visits to our mountain town and spotted this at the t-shirt table before the show began. A solo Justin Hayward show? I hadn't heard of this CD so out came my money and this was safely tucked into my wife's purse while we enjoyed the show.

This 18 track CD is 79 minutes in length from the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano in April 1998. The show begins with Justin solo performing: "Your Wildest Dreams" "Lost and Found" "Land of Make Believe" and "Blue Guitar." The band: Mickey Feat: bass guitar, Paul Bliss: keyboards and Gordon Marshall: drums, keyboards, flute & percussion join in on song number five: "Children of Paradise." This band isn't as heavy handed as The Moody Blues but, as Paul Bliss and Gordon Marshall have been members of The Moody Blues touring band for many years now they have played these songs and they know them to perfection. The versions of "Tuesday Afternoon" and "Nights in White Satin" sound almost as if they were being played by the Moody Blues.

Justin, is in fine voice, and this live CD spotlights his great guitar skills as you have seldom heard them. This is a solid mixture of acoustic and electric music with rockers as: "The Story In Your Eyes" sharing space with beautiful ballads such as: "Watching & Waiting." There is a video of this show as well, and it is well worth seeking out as well. This was a lucky find for me to spot this amazing CD on that t-shirt table (and I had to fight my way through the blue-haired sixty year old groupies to get near this!)

The bottom line is this, if you like the Moody Blues and enjoy their live concerts, this CD is a must-have. The spotlight is on Justin, and he delivers above-and-beyond the call of duty. Every Moody Blues fan should own this, it's a wonderful set of some of the best music there is to hear. Justin Hayward live in concert, these people were very lucky to have attended this show.
FIVE STARS !!!

The sound quality is excellent throughout this cd.Justin was touring after the release of "The View From The Hill". There are some songs from his solo albums, some Moody Blues essentials, and some Moodies songs that haven't been done often in concert, such as Watching And Waiting. An excellent concert for Moody Blues and Justin fans.

This hard-to-locate CD is worth it's weight in gold. Justin opens the concert with "unplugged versions" of Moodies Classics, including "Your Wildest Dreams" and "The Land of Make Believe", then also performs "unplugged" versions of "Lost and Found", "Blue Guitar", and "Children of Paradise." Just simple tunes that Justin sings while playing his acoustic guitar. Simply beautiful. It would be the perfect setting if he was singing these on a moonlit summer night beside a campfire seranading everyone before retiring for the evening.

Thereafter, Mickey Feat on bass, Paul Bliss on keyboards, and Gordon Marshall on drums, percussion, keyboards, and flute join Justin on stage for the rest of the performance. These four gentlemen blend in traditional Moodies classics with numbers from Justin's solo albums while concentrating mostly on cuts from "The View From the Hill" released two years earlier. Highlights include Gordon Marshall's drum solo toward the end of "The Story In Your Eyes", "Forever Autumn" from the War Of The Worlds album, the seldom performed "Watching and Waiting," and of course "Tuesday Afternoon" and "Nights In White Satin" performed back to back toward the end of the show. While the accompanying DVD video showcases 22 selections performed at this special venue, this CD features 18 songs from the concert tightly edited (leaving out all talking segments) in just under 80 minutes time, meaning 4 tracks had to be left off the CD due to lack of available space. Those four songs are "Driftwood", "It's Up To You", "The Voice", and "Question".

I wish I could have been there in attendance for this special engagement, but the DVD and music CD will have to wonderfully suffice. Great live performance from Justin and his dear friends. Highly recommended. Not easy to locate, but well worth it.
