When I first seen this particular CD at the record store, I quickly scooped it up because I am a P-Funkster who owns many of their classics CD's, from the Brides to Eddie Hazel. What I didn't expect to get was clips of live songs that were taken from the 1972-1993 4 CD live collection, in which I also own. There are three different versions, the American, European, and Japanese versions. I have the European version. Just by looking at the pictures of the CD gives you the impression that ALL the live cuts are up to date, but they are not. It wasn't stated on the CD where the songs originate from or anything. I had a real problem with whoever came with this CD not to be more specific. Luckily for me, I am a P-Funk nut who owns those cuts. On a good note, the song "Good Love" by Anita Baker is off da hook with Blackbyrd playing the hellout of that guitar. "Ain't nothing but a jam is good, also. This CD is for someone who has never heard them or most of the songs live before. The aftermentioned 4CD collections are imports and are rarely found in record stores. Luckily, I happened to "stumble" across that collection in Tower Records. I would have gave it two stars had it not been for the studio jams. Also, the "Maggot Brain" and "P-Funk (Wants to Get Funked Up)" is not on that collection. I've never heard those versions before.

good these songs the mob have been singing and playin forever. maggot brain kicks booty as usual, i love the warped version of p-funk dedicated to eddie hazel heard they performed this after his funeral if true it shows on this. i mean the beat starts slow then the guitar comes in and the funk mob went chaotic in the early funkadelic tradition it's like everyone was pocessed by eddie's spirit.funkentelechy was done nicely skeet's solo was off the hook. mike put his 2 cents in and the song ended nicely.good love is a anita baker classic, makes you wonder who copied who blackbyrd on guitar goes to mars and back, i thought that was eddie at first, ain't nothing but a jam was dope hey timbaland sample this funk, stare of a nation is like one nation only slower. for funkadelic fans only .

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the experience you are looking for..., February 29, 2000

There is a reason why Parliament/Funkadelic concerts are so notorious - and it is not for the music. It is for the experience! You can't beat the intensity and rawness of a P-Funk concert. There is no other place on earth where you can go and dance for 5-6 hours without getting bored! You don't go to hear the music - although that is obviously still a key part in the experience. Both parts compliment the other - the music complements the experience of being there - and the vibe from the stage complements the music. You can't take one away from the other. That is why I am so against live albums by P-Funk. It is not even close to what it is like to accually see them live.

This collection's sound quality is pretty poor too - half the time all you can hear is the crowd talking. If you really must have a P-Funk live album, don't get this one. Get the earth tour.

But, George Clinton and P-Funk are touring at this very moment and will continue to do so. I really must suggest skipping the CD and just going to the show.

You can't take the experience of one of their concerts and put it on a CD. It does not work, and never will.

You have to be in the crowd. You have to be singing along and chanting along. You have to be flashing the P-Funk sign along with everyone. You have to be dancing with everyone else. The music sounds great when all of this is going on, but it doesn't really show on the CD.

Try to find a show, and avoid this.

This is a compliation of at least three concerts where George and the P-Funk Allstars tore the roof off the Muther.

A nice live collection, though at times it suffers from less than stellar sound quality.

I dig the Older P-Funk Live Better but hearing Maggot Brain,Give Up the Funk&Flash Light is always a Must. The Genius&Vision of this Band isn't Fully Been Given.they Created Music that was way ahead of their time&is still Fresh to this day.On Stage they Rocked.they Break down Styles on this Set as they have Done for Such a Long,Long,Long Time.

AS A LONG TIME FAN OF THE P.FUNK MOB.. I WAS LITTLE DISAPPOINTED IN THIS ALBUM.. TO REALLY EXPERIENCE THE TRUE P.FUNK EXPERIENCE FANS PICK UP THE P.FUNK EARTH TOUR OR THE 4 DISK LIVE COLLECTION.. THEY ARE BETTER DOCUMENTATIONS OF THE WORLD'S FUNKEST BAND .. BUT THERE ARE SOME GOOD POINTS ON THIS CD

COMSIC SLOP, TEAR THE ROOF OF THE SUCKER, MAGGOT BRAIN, THE ANTIA BAKER REMAKE GOOD LOVE, AINT NOTHING BUT A JAM YALL..

BUT THAT ABOUT IT .. PICK UP THE OTHER LIVE SETS THAT WAS MENTIONED
