5.0 out of 5 stars Never thought I'd see the day......
I caught this one when it was first broadcast on Showtime 327 years ago..and have only a 15th generation bootleg vhs dub to remember it by.I never, ever thought it would make it to DVD..being a long forgotten concert by an artist whom critics have always loved to hate, and who hasn't had anything in the top ten in more than a decade...This is a pleasant surprise indeed! 3.0 out of 5 stars For Hardcore Fans Only
As has been stated by another reviewer, the sound quality is lacking on this dvd. Whoever did the mastering made a poor attempt to ensure the sound and video were in-sync. DO NOT attempt to listen/watch this in 5.1 - it's maddening! At first I thought Rick WAS lip-synching! And the lack of audible crowd noise was disturbing. Listening to the stereo version helps with...

His rabid and loyal fanbase will gobble this up in record time,So I won't preach to the choir....If you are a passive fan or just want to enjoy a great show from a great performer, dust off your parachute pants and pre-order this gem!...Now,if I could just score that KISS concert that HBO aired in '79.............

DO NOT attempt to listen/watch this in 5.1 - it's maddening! At first I thought Rick WAS lip-synching! And the lack of audible crowd noise was disturbing. Listening to the stereo version helps with the audio-sync problems, but doesn't cure it completely. Unless you can overlook these serious problems, DON'T buy this, and DON'T pay full price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Artist Cheap DVD, March 17, 2009

This DVD is so cheap the description on the back cover is copied straight from Wikipedia and some of that language I put on wikipedia myself. So you can imagine how strange it was to look at the back of this DVD in the store and read the exact same words I composed. There are also typos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Live and Kickin - it kicks, it rocks, it's a winner, October 1, 2007

I love this DVD! Rick Springfield's singing is terrific, his face is handsome and he is so very energetic. It's fun to watch, not merely listen - over and over and over. Even my little niece loved it!

The only thing disappointing about this is the audience soundtrack - it is not from the original - it is as if it was added later. I have the original on vhs from when it aired on Showtime in the 80s. I miss that part -but the color quality and Rick's sound is wonderful. I have bought this as a gift for non-fans and they loved it too. Great for the holidays!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best concert film from Rick!, July 27, 2004

I liked this one better then BOTLD.. He does not act to wild on stage, and he actually gets out there in the auduence and makes so girls swoon! We get to see "I Get Excited" as well as "April 24 1981" along with "Inside Silvia" just to name a few...

I am glad that someone is going to release this one to DVD... It has been a long time coming... New review to come soon...

5.0 out of 5 stars Prime "vintage" Springfield, May 23, 2009
This review is from: Live and Kickin' (DVD)
In response to some of the reviews..this concert was "filmed" in '82. No digital cameras or digital recording equipment being used in those days.
That said, of course the sound and visual are not up to todays standards but you will not find many modern rock bands who can perform as Springfield and his band do on this extremly live (no overdubs) performance. Most of todays so called live dvd's are full of vocal and instrument overdubs (they go back into the studio in sing or play over the mistakes) that remove mistakes and make the artist/band sound like a studio recording. I give this dvd a 5 star+.
No sync problems w/my copy either. Has this dvd been reissued? I see a different cover. Wondering if a newer release has a sync issue?
Also think his latest dvd Live in Rockford is just as brilliant 26 yrs later. Great stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rick keeps it live and kickin!, September 30, 2008
This review is from: Live and Kickin (Audio CD)
I was only 5 years old when this actual concert took place.I have been a fan for the last 10 years trying to catch up to that period that I am sorry I missed out on. This CD makes you feel as if you were there twenty some years ago as a teeny bopper. Rick's classic songs and feel good energy come alive in this CD. A definite for any die hard fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rick Springfield - Live and Kickin', April 12, 2008
I really enjoyed this show. it was like being there.Lots of excitement.great music and one of the best artist of his time.I do not see what the big deal is about the words not being in time with the music as in this other review.it seems to be in pretty good time to me.hardly noticeable or it would not be enjoyable. This is one of the most energetic shows you will see from an 80's artist.the sound quality is excellent and picture is great out of 10 I give it an 8.To bad its already out of print thoe get it now before its to late.

Pink & Purple Converse are for sissy's! Don't listen to that last guy, He's off his rocker.
However, This DVD is sure to rock. I saw the show back in the day. This was originally a Showtime concert back in 82. Now in digital 5.1.
It's about time!
