Amy Ray out on her own,

While Ms Amy Ray is one half of the dynamic duo: The Indigo Girls do not expect an Indigo girls type recording. Ms Ray has stripped down to the bare rock basics of two guitars, bass and drums. She has recreated the great tradition of the garage band (think neil Young and Nirvanna). Not only that but the music and playing shows that she is having a really good time doing it! I saw her in washington, D.C. and she broke a string. normally not a problem she just hands the guitar to a techie and gets a new one to carry on. well, this time she told the audience to talk amongst yourselves while she went and got another string and replaced it on stage! I have not seen that since high school. That is a bare minimum tour and she rocked out! this recording truly captures the spirit and sound of the tour. What we heard is what is on this recording. I recommend this recording to anyone who remembers great live recordings such as the James Gang and The Who.

Amy rocks once again, as usual sounds as good live as in studio - a must have for any fan.

Amy Ray live.,

I am a sucker for any Amy Ray material available and this cd recorded October 2005 in Knoxville, TN did not let me down other than it was not long enough, only 12 songs! I wanted 18! She has released two solo albums 'Stag' ('01) & 'Prom' ('05) and this live cd is a good mixture of both. It is raw, organic, rhythmic and rocking. 'The Volunteers' band of Tara (bass, vocals), Les (guitar, vocals) and Will (drums, vocals) sound pretty bloody good but you can tell that they have not rehearsed the songs as much as a long-term band has as a continuous project. Amy gives us a 'Thanks y'all' as per usual as with the Indigo Girls, lol. Worth the buy to quench your desire of Amy Ray fine fare. My fave songs on the album are of course 'Lucy Stoners', 'Laramie' & 'Rural faggot'. Enjoy it for what it is!

Great way to introduce people to ARay,

Anyone who thinks of the Indigo Girls as just the duo who sang Closer to Fine, I let them hear this and most people are blown-away. I've recruited many new fans this way, and the ARay live CD is the ticket. It is a must have for music lovers.
