4.0 out of 5 stars I love his live stuff!
Okay, I want to start off by saying that I did not give this album 4 stars because of performance, it's because of the disc itself. There is absolutely no problem with this performance. It was obviously an amazing crowd. His choice of songs was almost perfect, too. My only problem with it is this disc doesn't combine the tracks together like most live albums, they have a...

If you like Buffett's live stuff I would be quicker to recommend the new MiniMatinee DVD or the TUESDAYS, THURSDAYS, SATURDAYS CD. I planned on buying the Auburn Cd, but will pass after hearing Vegas.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Gaps, June 1, 2004
By
This review is from: Live in Las Vegas (Audio CD)
I too purchased "live in Vegas" and was disappointed with the quality. I have Mansfield and Auburn which are perfect. My first copy of Vegas had parts on the first disc that would drop out. There were however, no gaps between the songs. I went to exchange my first copy and was annoyed to hear the pauses between the songs. I thought that this disc was messed up too so I returned it for a third copy and it too has gaps between the songs. I also noticed that the recording level on the two vegas sets were lower than my set with the drop outs during the songs. I guess I will just have to settle.

It was obviously an amazing crowd. His choice of songs was almost perfect, too. My only problem with it is this disc doesn't combine the tracks together like most live albums, they have a gap which takes the fun out of it being a live album. Also, if you're like me, you like to listen to live albums pretty loud but this one has a volume ceiling on it. I just can't seem to get it as loud as I can other live albums.

The audio on both CD's is very low, and yes I have the volume

Okay, needed to chime in - some folks complaining about quality of recording but it's actually quite good for a live recording. People need to remember that most "live" concert CDs are actually bits and pieces from different shows across a whole tour. Sort of a live "best of."

This show is exactly what it promises - a full Buffett concert from six weeks ago. The same stuff he streams for free on Radio Margaritaville. Does every Buffett fan need to own it? No, but if you love live buffett and want to hear some songs he hasn't played in a while, check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy the Show, November 16, 2003

I had tickets to the Shoreline show that was cancelled due to the death of Jimmy's Mother. I was looking forward to buying that recording and reliving the experience. I've been a fan since I saw Jimmy at the Hof Brau in Squaw Valley in 1977. I'm not keen on the 2 second gap on the Vegas CD but at the end of the day, it's a live recording. I have "You Had to Be There", "Feeding Frenzy" and "Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays" and will probably buy the Chicago and Boston shows when they're released. Relish in the music and be amazed at the talent that provides new arrangements to old songs on every tour. There's nothing like listening to songs performed before a live audience. Hopefully a full length concert DVD is on the way as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWSOME CD!!, November 10, 2003
This review is from: Live in Las Vegas (Audio CD)
Ok first i would like to say if the two second gaps are that big of a deal then rip them to the computer and burn them again. Hoestly its not a big deal, by the way this is only on the Las Vegas cd and not Aubrun. These cds are great. It sounds NOTHING like radio margaritaville it is 100x cleaner sound. It is a live album if you have ever been to a buffett concert you will relize that jimmy walks away sometimes. This is a true live album and i love it! This is there first live release of this kind give mailboat a break im sure they will fix all of there problems. these cds are great buy em'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Parrotheads Unite!! (Technogeeks Need Not Apply!!, January 14, 2004

To those who are oh, soooo concerned about the technical aspects of this live hosw (i.e. Jimmy's voice cutting out at times, the gaps, etc.) seem to be missing the point...this is a LIVE show recorded directly through the soundboard...these things are going to happen!! So, for the rest of us...this is one great disc!! I also own the Auburn disc, which is great as well. I look forward to picking up the Mansfield and Cincinnati CD's!! I loved the Hawaiian twang added to "Why Don't We get Drunk," the fun punch and kick of "Mexico," and his storytelling between tracks is what has really endeared us to Jimmy, not just the fun music....you can't help but feel a kinship....he's just Jimmy!! So, if worrying about perfect sound, don't bother, but if you want a great Spring break soundtrack...here it is!!! Incidentally, for the reviewer who recommended Jimmy releasing a full-length concert DVD...AMEN!!!! That would be wonderful!! I enjoyed "MiniMatinee," but that is only 25 minutes...not enough when on a feeding frenzy!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Be your own judge...., November 13, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Live in Las Vegas (Audio CD)
When I went to this concert, I thought it was one of his best (and I've been to plenty!). Then when I found out it was recorded and would be out on CD, I was excited to say the least and couldn't wait. After reading the reviews, I was a little disappointed but bought the CD anyway. I am a little miffed about the delay between songs, but I can get over that. This CD is great and brings back all the awesome memories of that concert. If you are reading this and went to that concert - it is a must buy. And even if you didn't go to the concert and are a true fan, add this one to you collection. Hope this helps... Phan in Phoenix

5.0 out of 5 stars WHAAA, November 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Live in Las Vegas (Audio CD)
As I read the reviews of this CD on Amazon only one word comes to mind. WHAA! This CD is what it is...A Jimmy Buffett Show! No it's not digitally mastered but if you are buying a Buffett CD for sound quality maybe you should look at the "classical music" section of Amazon. For the true Parrotheads who count the days until Jimmy plays their town and always get lawn seats where the real party is this CD will bring back great memories. For those who want the ultimate sound out of their bose stereo system while they drive around in their SUV go by a Kenny G CD!! FINS UP!
