Not a Major Disappointment,
By Bill Mobley "Hi Jiff! (My favorite Eddie Murp... (Atlanta, Georgia United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live: One Last Time (Audio CD)
The girls are so classy, and the sound so smooth that I don't care about the few quibbles I have with the CD. The major problem for me was how they just sort of skirted through some of their major songs. I realize, of course, that they were doing medleys of the songs, but still. Take "Holy Will" they totally left out the part that says" "Lord...Place Me...Lord...Place Me..etc."
The original version of "Name it Claim it" had one of the most original endings and fade outs I had ever heard at the time, and DJ Rogers was phenomenal, but here The Clark Sisters sort of "Ho Hum" thru it. But what surprised me most was the version of "Jesus Is A Love Song," It seems this slightly new version robs the song of the potency it once had. Even "You Brought The Sunshine" (Which comes at the end of the CD) is sort of anti climatic (Alright, I'll stop trying to be so sophisticated). But really, this CD didn't actually disappoint me. "Livin" and "Blessed & Highly Favored" are such good songs that I'm glad I purchased the CD. And The Clark Sisters can say "He's birthing an anointing" as much as they want, and still make you feel good.

The Clark Sisters CD is breath taking !!!,

Have you ever had a CD that you where casually listening to all of a sudden stop you dead in your tracks? That is what this CD will do to you.
I was nonchalantly listening and then the song "Instrument" came on then everything stopped and up went the praise. And if that was not enough, the following song "You Heard Me Cry" just floored me. The whole album is well put together with the old and the new. The sisters take turns taking the lead on specific songs which really accentuates how talented each sister really is. "One Last Time" (Live)should be a CD that you will play for years to come. If you have never really listened to the Clark Sisters before I would advise you to listen to the samples and then order/buy it immediately. You'll be glad you did!

This Clark Sisters project is a blessing!,
This review is from: Live: One Last Time (Audio CD)
I found this project to be very inspiring and anointed. The overall production is pretty good, particularly in terms of the arrangements, lyrics, and musicmanship. The Clark Sisters have been in the gospel music business and true worshipers of God for quite some time now. It is evident that they have not lost their direction and/or focus on the principal reason for which they do these projects; to glorify God. I admonish them to continue in their quest to be lights to the world and in their service to the Kingdom of God through song.

Clark Sisters One Last Time Live,
This review is from: Live: One Last Time (Audio CD)
I am glad the clark sisters came together one last time. I like a few of the new songs on this CD, and the old songs. They are still singing with the power of God and their songs are still a blessing.

Truly Blessed,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Live: One Last Time (Audio CD)
I've always loved the Clark Sisters, but they are proof that things get better with time. Since purchasing this album I've listened to it several times; my favorite tracks being "Blessed and Highly Favored" and "Instrument". It's such a blessed album, that it truly makes me hope that this will not be their last group performance.

Highly Anticipated!,

Like a few of the other reviewers, I was present at the live recording for this project in Houston in July of 2006, and I agree that the results are somewhat mixed.
The good: Tracks 1-5 and 9 are new material, written variously by Twinkie, Donald Lawrence, Dorinda, and Karen, and all are very solid. (I'm unsure about "World." I think I've heard them perform it before; but maybe another fan can address this.) The remaining tracks are old material to be enjoyed by long time fans as well as those new to the Clark Sisters. The not so good: This is not the entire concert. "Endow Me" and "Expect Your Miracle" are missing, as well as the musical tribute to Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. I admit that I was disappointed by this, since "Endow Me" and "Miracle" are two of my favorites. Also, Donald Lawrence is heard encouraging the audience to chant "Play Twinkie, Play!" This is curious, since Twinkie only played the organ for the tribute medley to their mother (which, as I mentioned, is not on the CD. So I'm unsure why this bit of narrative was included. Overall, Donald Lawrence is a talented producer, and I do recommend the CD. I've been a fan of the Clark Sisters since their "vinyl days," when they first began to redefine the standard for female quartet music. They are truly treasures of gospel music.

I also went to the live recording in Houston and that in itself was awesome. And I really like the CD. The only complaint would be, I want more...and I'm sorry that the Dr. Mattie Moss Clark Medley did not make the CD, because at the recording the Sista's sang those songs flawlessly..I hope it don't take a year for the DVD to come out. Good job Clark Sisters, love you. Jacky sounded wonderful, Karen is phenominal, Dorinda is breathtaking, and of course Twinkie is da bomb!!!

Truly A Blessing...The Dynamic Clark Sisters!!,
By
This review is from: Live: One Last Time (Audio CD)
As a Clark Sisters Fan for the last 12 years I could not wait and counted the months until this cd was released. I was so thrilled to hear they would be reuniting one last time to grace us with their gift of gospel, praise, and song. These sisters are truly talented and annointed and this collection will go down as probably the best gospel album of 2007. The first single "Blessed & Highly Favored" is truly a gem, other standouts are "Livin", "Instrument", "My Redeemer Liveth", and let's not forget where it all began with "You brought the sunshine". I had the honor of meeting the sisters on April 14th for an autograph signing for their new cd in Detroit, Michigan for the first time. They were very professional and pleasant and even took pictures with all of us. I only wish original member Denise could have joined them for this final release. You won't be disappointed with this cd, they are still The Dynamic Clark Sisters after all of these years!!!!

The Clark sisters are the most beautiful treasures in music today!,
By Talayia "music lover" (Bellevue, NE) - See all my reviews

This album is pure greatness! The Clark sisters voices are in fantastic shape. Karen Clark-Sheard tears it up on this album, which is no surprise. I think the pre-recorded backing vocals shouldn't have been present on this "live" album. I actually think "Name it,Claim it"/"Jesus is a love song", which are some of my favorite Clark sisters songs; should have been much longeR. Still this is one of the greatest gospel albums in a long time and a Clark sisters must have! I hope they make a new studio album. To me this new album proves they can still got it as far as amazing vocalists and songwriters.

"Blessed and Highly Favored For Sure",
This review is from: Live: One Last Time (Audio CD)
The Clark Sisters are my favorite contemporary gospel artists. I have always enjoyed listening to their music because it truly ministers to my heart and soul. The Clarks are anointed as a group and as individual artists. Their music will always have a place on my shelf and a space in my heart
Sincerely, Charlotte |
