Dr. Susan Biali, M.D. is an internationally recognized medical doctor, wellness expert, speaker, coach and flamenco dancer. In her quest to free herself from depression and poor health, Dr. Biali chose not to adhere to societal normals and logical career paths. Today, she fuses her passion for dance with her voice to inspire and educate others, teaching others to see health and life in a new way.

Dr. Biali holds a Doctorate of Medicine and a Bachelor's of Science in Dietetics from the University of British Columbia. She has received countless academic and personal awards, most recently the Woman of Worth Award in Health & Wellness. She blogs for PsychologyToday.com and has appeared in numerous media outlets, including Fox News, Self, Fitness, MSNBC, MSN, and The Chicago Tribune.

Though she had her own flamenco and salsa dance company in Los Cabos, Mexico for the last 3 years, Dr. Biali still practices general medicine. She has performed for and taught celebrities, and today speaks and dances across North America. She is currently based in Vancouver, Canada, with her husband and salsa dance partner, Armando, and their dog Faro, a rescue from the Los Cabos Humane Society.

I looked forward to reading this book, but was sorely disappointed. I have a problem with authors who say they were so unhappy with their lives that they packed up and traveled to a beautiful foreign country to figure out all those pesky annoyances. This is another of that genre.

This book turned out to be a self-serving "look at what I did" tome, in my opinion. Ms. Biali clearly had the financial ability to create any life she chose, so I don't give much credence to her claim of pulling herself up by her bootstraps. I don't feel that she thoughtfully reinvented herself; she spent a whole lot of money on herself and, by golly, then she felt better about life. Of course we have to throw in a dashing foreign man, a la "Eat, Pray, Love." For most of us, "finding ourselves" in an exotic locale simply isn't an option.

Yes, there are a few good self-help points included, but if you've read more than two books in the past decade, you've seen them already. (In case you haven't, here they are: Eat right. Get some exercise. Sleep

Susan's book has lifted me up after a physically and emotionally exhausting week. I picked it up and couldn't put it down. It felt like Susan was sitting right next to me, reminding me of all the things that truly matter in life. In every area that I've been neglecting or having a hard time with, she was right there with helpful stories and gentle reminders about how to turn things around.

This book is straightforward, relatable, fun to read, engaging, practical, inspiring and above all - helpful!

From the last chapter: "Under all the stress, fear, failures, and wrong choices you might have made in your life, you know who you really are, and how you're meant to live. I hope I've successfully reminded you of how totally original you are, how worthy of love you are, how brilliant and wonderful your body is, and what you you need to thrive."

Susan achieves her mission with flying colors in this book. She is vulnerable, relatable and wise, and I recommend it highly to anyone looking to re-connect with what is most important in life.

Live a Life You Love is a very personal book by Dr. Susan Biali. In it she talks about how she changed her own life. While working as a doctor, she liked helping people, but felt harried and oddly dissatisfied. Surprising those who knew her, she decided to leave the medical profession and pursue her passion to become a writer--and a flamenco dancer!

In the book she encourages us to think about changing our lives as well. She asks us if we are truly happy in our jobs, in our relationships, with our lives. She talks about the importance of nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. In a clear and simple way, she outlines seven steps to follow in sections titled:

* Allow Yourself to be You
* Learn to Love Yourself
* Honor Your Body
* Rescue and Revitalize Your Relationships
* Get a Life!
* Make Room for the Divine
* Make "Someday" Today

The author presents many ideas in this book, in an easy-to-read format. Even if you're not contemplating changing careers or making other major changes, Live a Life You Love has valuable ideas for making smaller but important changes. I found it interesting and inspiring.
