For the new and old fan alike,

This is a wonderful collection of 17 songs recorded live in August 2001 in the Bunnymen's home city of Liverpool. The tracklisting almost serves as a 'best of'. Songs from each phase of the band are found on the CD. Early songs such as 'Rescue' and 'All That Jazz' are played with the same vibrant energy as they were in 1980. Will Sergeant unique guitar work shines on cuts such as 'Over The Wall' and 'The Cutter'. Ian McCulloch's raspy voice is in top form, especially on 'The Killing Moon' and 'Nothing Lasts Forever'. The band's performance of 'Ocean Rain' is unbelieveable - it seems like it wouldn't be possible to transfer the beauty of the recorded version of this song to a live setting, but they succeed. The new songs (King Of Kings, Supermellow Man, An Eternity Turns, and Buried Alive) stand up strongly with the classics, proving that McCulloch and Sergeant are still creatively relevant. Old fans of the band will certainly find a lot to like about this CD and new fans will a great overview of a wonderful, underrated band. I liked what I heard on this album so much that I bought 'The Crystal Days 1979-1999' box soon after.

Recorded at The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts in August of 2001 with the new lineup from the comeback album of the year "Flowers" this performance captures the unique sound of thisband with old classics "Rescue,"Lips Like Sugar","Seven Seas"and "The Killing Moon"and several songs from "Flowers"this is a must own for any Bunnyfan and anyone has'nt yet heard this band live. Produced by lead singer IanMcCulloch and lead guitarist Will Sergeant it is a mix of both old and new with a great sound and will soon be a Bunny classic.

Wonderful chills,

A beautiful, moving collection of live songs that lift the spirits and carry you into the sweetest reverie. That voice has only aged with grace, and the band sounds so good live. Those remiss on keeping up with the albums through the years will be nicely served by this work. If you have always loved this band, then hearing them live is a real treasure.

Greatest Hits Live, but get the DVD instead.,

I picked up the DVD for less than the price of the CD & am glad I did. The sound quality is great (Dolby Stereo) plus the options for Dolby 5.1 & DTS 5.1. The DVD also has 23 tracks (the full concert including encore), plus 2 videos (it's alright & make me shine). In spite of the terrible editing of the visuals on the DVD, it really is recommended over this & if you're tech savy, you can make you're own CD from the audio portion.

Live albums today rarely live up to their previously set standards of expectations--so the most we can generally hope to enjoy about them is a polished performance (or excellent post-show mixing) and a 'greatest hits' song-selection. With "Live In Liverpool", the Bunnymen set their sights somewhere between self-parody and brilliance.I'm happy to say the album is quite good; material from "Crocodiles" and "Songs to Learn & Sing" mesh well with newer tunes from "Evergreen" and "Flowers", something that's hard for any band to pull off. But they pull out the stops with "Lips Like Sugar", "Zimbo", "Killing Moon", and "Seven Seas." There's very little innovation to be found here; just a well-rounded, superb-sounding performance that is sure to please old 'where are they now?' fans and newer ones.

EATB doing what they do best...,

For 23 years, Echo And The Bunnymen have built a loyal cult following with fans and critics alike. Though much of this acclaim is because of classic releases like Ocean Rain and last year's Flowers, onstage is where they truly shine. In the middle of their 2001 world tour, The Bunnymen played two dates in their hometown, Liverpool, at LIPA's Paul McCartney Auditorium. This CD (and forthcoming DVD) is the result - a recording which catches the power of their live show. Classics like 'The Cutter' and 'The Killing Moon' play well alongside newer tracks 'Flowers' and the show-stopping 'An Eternity Turns', and the concert ends with "the greatest song ever", 'Ocean Rain'. For longtime fans, this album, their first official live recording, is a much-anticipated treasure. For the new listener, it's a great initiation to their (our) world... Be forewarned - you'll want to buy all their albums once you've heard this...

Recorded in Liverpool, England {the band's hometown} over a two-night stand, August 17-18, 2001. Truly a brilliant live performance from this long-running post-punk, neo-psychedelic, alternative (call them what you want) five-piece. Some of these cuts I couldn't get enough of were the all-around solid rocker "Rescue", "Lips Like Sugar", the awesome "Never Stop", "My Kingdom", "The Killing Moon" and the essential "Ocean Rain". Never actually thought about it before, but it's obvious that Echo & The Bunnymen are definitely influenced by The Doors and Velvet Underground. A must-have.

The sound quality of this live recording is so good it almost doesn't sound live. The songs are performed perfectly, almost too perfectly. Ian and the boys are not fooling around here. No frills no drunken ad-libs. They've obviously mellowed with age which may leave some people longing for the feistier Bunnymen of old but I think they realised they owed this to their long time fans. Wonderful renditions of All That Jazz, Seven Seas, All My Colours (Zimbo) and a nice touch in ending with Ocean Rain. Thanks guys.
