The Senior Strategists of AR&D have provided the definitive GPS system for making your way in a career in local television. Whether you are a veteran, mid-career, or an aspiring student...LIVE,LOCAL,BROKEN News is a clear and unblinking blueprint of how to survive and thrive within the bounds of today's realities. 5.0 out of 5 stars Manual for rebuilding a local tv station, May 11, 2009
By
John B. Boles "Ben Boles" (Huntsville, Alabama USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Live Local Broken News (Hardcover)
I spent almost 20 years in local news, and left the business in 2008 to essentially do the same thing for the largest auto dealer group in Alabama. Using media to sell cars is my job. So I love keeping up with media goings-on.

This book is not full of high-falutin' theory... it's very practical with exact checklists of things to get your station started to FIX YOUR PROBLEM!

Who would have thought that your station website would potentially be the ONLY way to turn your tv station around? Gone are the days that it is a project that gets shoved into the corner... and get "handled."

But HOW do YOU do THAT?

Read the book and you will find out. What should you do with sports? Eliminate it? HELL NO! Grow it, but cover the right stuff. The book tells you what. Ready to go head to head with The Weather Channel? You can do that too! Just read the weather chapter.

I think a lot of folks know what they need to do, but they lack the guts to do it. The book will give you the courage to actually do it, because the great brains of the Media 2.0 world tell you how. They corroborate your beliefs and then prioritize the action plan. And once you have the checklist - you can do great things!

Good luck! The book is a great start!

Ben Boles, Huntsville, Alabama
