This is a great addition to my current collection. My husband and I try to catch their live show whenever they're in town. It's nothing like being there and witnessing their wonderful chemistry. If you can't catch a live show, this record is a great substitute. Especially their version of "Loving You."

An authentic, ever-evolving love story that took root in the streets of Philly, blossomed into a marriage, children and four studio albums that chronicled every step of the way: that's what Kindred The Family Soul is. Together, as part of the 2000s neo-soul emergence, Aja Graydon and Fatin Dantzler spun the grit and the glory of their lives as a couple/family and performing team and continue to enrapture true music lovers around the world. Their latest release and first non-studio project, Live From London (10th Anniversary of Surrender To Love), marks a pair of two essential milestones: not only does it commemorate their first musical masterpiece, it also immortalizes the cool-like-dat chemistry and kinetic energy created when this sangin' and songwriting duo unleases their full fury onstage.

If A Tribe Called Quest hadn't already used the title before them, Kindred probably could've named this CD The Love Movement, because that's literally what fans will hear and experience during this 75 minutes 1 S. Bank Street sojourn. If you've never been lucky enough to have witnessed Fatin and Aja work their magic in person, Live... will transport you into a front row seat, crisply delivering a rock-n-roll edge to their smash single, "Far Away," interspersing elements of funk and go-go ("Don't Wanna Suffer," "Doin' It To Death") and toe-curling duets that highlight their affection and enthusiasm as partners and performers.

From note one, it's obvious that Fatin and Aja embrace 'the old school': the compilation doesn't mimic their debut track for track, but it certainly revisits the fan favorites and serves enough grit and variety to make it a full-fleged soul showdown.

This group has been my favorite since their debut!! I was elated to find out that they dedicated their anniversary by releasing a live CD!! Awesome....my favorite song is their rendition of the O'Jays "Loving You"!!!

This set of songs has all the ingredients to become a great live album: super tight band, great original songwriting and cover versions of older tunes that rival the original, e.g. Maze's "We are One". I can even pardon the dodgy production quality: this seems to be a live concert that a sound engineer just happened to capture on a hard disk recorder hooked up to the front of house mixing console. No further editing seems to have been done and this makes the transitions from song to song kind of sloppy, even on the hard copy CD disc that i bought.

The one things that keeps irritating me more every time I listen to this recording is the off key singing of the female lead vocalist. She sings a half tone flat on many, many occasions! I checked this with a piano and a guitar on several songs: it's just blatantly out of tune! This becomes even more painfully clear when she sings the lead vocal line against the background singers, who are spot-on (as is the male lead vocalist, by the way). I can not imagine how this could escape a bunch of professional musicians listening back to these live tapes. Maybe it detracts from the live album credibilty, but I would have fixed those false notes in the studio before putting this out to possibly millions of listeners, many of whom, I am sure, are musicians themselves.

Anyway, I loved the original "Surrender to love" album when it came out and this is a nice celebration of its tenth birthday.

This CD only contains two of the artists' own recordings, The rest of the CD is filled with so-so renditions of other artists' songs. This CD was disappointing and I regret the purchase!
