Being a somewhat fan of the Toilet Boys, I decided to purchase this live cd. I can't say it's the best but it ain't the worst either. The live sound quality isn't very "professional" but in the spirit of punk, it doesn't necessarily have to be. In my own opinion, their studio albums fare off better. This is really more for the hardcore Toilet Boys fans.

Seems like not a lot of material yet for a live CD for these guys, but in London --where the infamous balloon netting fire of a few years back took place, it's all good. It may just be Soundboard recordings sprinkled with crowd noise and fire extinguishers hiss I guess is the way it's described in the liner notes; but this is one of my all time favorite LIVE albums for sure. A few songs from each of their 3 CD's, plus a previously unreleased studio track "Original Sinner" which is a great TB song which seems to be only available here , a Ramones medley tribute (which is slowed to a Toilet Boys trot slightly early on), and Duece by Kiss also thrown in.
Nice banter with the crowd by Ms. Guy, a very charismatic front...person who seems to strut and rev up the crowd. Although I always get sad when MG says "see you all when we play Wembley Arena, you're all invited" or something along those lines right before launching into Duece by KISS. Overall sounds like a great party and at this point one can assume we all are invited, one could only imagine how much more mischief and athemic rock this band might have been destined for, just hard to believe such a great band went by the wayside so soon. |
