4.0 out of 5 stars Accoustic Guitar palying at its very best
I went to see these guys live and was sceptical as to whether or not they would be interesting for an hour and a half. they were spellbinding. the live album is very close to the set that they are currently playing. They combine traditional spanish/flamenco melodies with some very interesting takes on modern hits - White stripes, Dave Brubeck & Metallica. If you like...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Little Bit of Dissappointing
Good music....good songs and the production is up to par, but there isn't really much there. Some songs recorded as well or better elsewhere, and not enough new in terms of the music or the performances to merit a recording. I wish Rodrigo & Gabriela all the best and their music is inpired and inspiring, but hope for more next time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best new CD I have bought in years, April 27, 2007

The second version of One on here is one of the best new things I have heard in years - voice, acoustic guitar, violin - sounds great. I you ever thought acoustic guitar was boring, this will change your mind.

I saw them live in San Jose area Summer 2007 and they are definitely worth it if they come near you. They did a version of Pink Floyd "Wish you here" that I can't wait to hear without the audience singing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rodrigo y Gabriela, February 10, 2007

Something new and vibrant, spanish guitar and rock combined flawlessly.

These artist can rock the house or soothe your soul in just two songs. Unbelivable sound from acoustic instruments. They feel and express every note with precision. A must see live and a must buy for any lover of music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Live in Manchester and Dublin, January 9, 2011
This review is from: Live: Manchester and Dublin (Audio CD)
This is one of Rodrigo and Gabriela's early live albums and their metal roots are evident throughout, but with their own unique flamenco twist. This was recorded in Manchester and Dublin and has tracks from Re-Foc on it, as well as an excellent interpretation of Metallic's `One'. At one point this is blended with Brubeck's `Take Five' to delightful effect. This live album shows all the flair and passion in their playing and the part at the very end where Gabriela talks to the audience about her experiences in Ireland is especially endearing. If you enjoy their albums and want to sample their sound whilst playing live then this is a pretty good place to go, but be aware there is also an excellent `Live in Japan' disc to enjoy at some point as well.

Feel free to check out my blog which can be found on my profile page.

5.0 out of 5 stars RyG - In a class by themselves, October 1, 2008
This review is from: Live: Manchester and Dublin (Audio CD)
This CD makes me want to see RyG in concert. The energy and movement in this live recording is powerful and entertaining. The sound quality is not quite what you would expect from a studio recording, but it still sounds great on my stereo.

The amount of sound generated by just two musicians is amazing, and One cannot help but be impressed by Gabriela's on-the-guitar percussion. This is great stuff!

My only complaint is that it is rather short - maybe 30 minutes long, with just 7 songs. I would assume that their concert was much longer that this. Why did they not include more material?

I expect to buy more CDs from these two rising stars.
