5.0 out of 5 stars Five Stars, But Only For Old Times Sake
I'm giving this album five stars because I'll never give any of Jimmy's albums anything less just for all the fun and pleasure he's given me over the years. But to tell you the truth I bought this CD on the same day I bought Bill Jabanoski's "The Key West Party CD" and though I hate to admit it Jimmy since I've been a parrothead for so long, when I go for a CD...

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh Jimmy, has it really come to this?
Against my better instincts I bought this CD hoping that maybe Jimmy had gotten a little of the old spark back from the days before major disappointments like "Banana Wind" and "Beach House On The Moon". I should have listened to my instincts. "Capecodadgirl" and Jennifer from Phoenix are right on target. He's just mailing it in and laughing...

He's just mailing it in and laughing all the way to the bank like he has been doing since his last GOOD CD "Barometer Soup" and that was about ten years ago. I'm with you Jennifer. Give me any of Bill Jabanoski's CDs over this one. Buffett sounds about as interested in his performance as he is in his audience, meaning Not At All. What happened to you, Jimmy? You used to be great. Now you're more interested in being Jimmy Buffett the Fortune 500 Corporation than you are in your music.

3.0 out of 5 stars Remembering the good old days..., March 23, 2004
This review is from: Live in Mansfield Ma (Audio CD)
Jimmy, I can recall when it was a cinch to get tickets to Mansfield and get really great seats so I have to agree with Jennifer from AZ that it appears that you're going through the motions for the bucks.

There seems to be little new inspiration in the last fews CDs and this one is no exception. To try to relive the magic of your live performances, it's impossible to get any *decent* seats to your shows unless you know someone that's a corporate sponsor.

Please, please, please check with our friends, the Dead, and ask them how they run their ticket lottery. Decent seats most of the time, fair ticket prices, and the feeling that they really do care about their fans. I'm not even a Deadhead, but I miss the good old days when it was about your music, the party and the fans.

Until things change, I'll still be listening to the 4-cd box set and some of the other good Buffett tunes in our collection.

I'm giving this album five stars because I'll never give any of Jimmy's albums anything less just for all the fun and pleasure he's given me over the years. But to tell you the truth I bought this CD on the same day I bought Bill Jabanoski's "The Key West Party CD" and though I hate to admit it Jimmy since I've been a parrothead for so long, when I go for a CD it's always Roadkill Bill's CD I put on instead of this one or the other two live ones you've released recently and the other new one, which I just bought. It's always great to hear Jimmy live, if you've never gone to a parrothead phlocking DEFINITELY go see him, but I start to get the feeling that he is a great performer who has just run out of ideas and is just releasing one live CD after another knowing that people like me will buy them all. Its a little disappointing that he just seems to be going through the motions for the money now like when he played that Tyco toga party.

I guess you can't expect anyone to be great for ever, but right now your much better off buying one of Jimmy's old CDs or Bill Jabanoski's "The Key West Party CD" or his live "Beachbum Bootleg" than this CD. He's more like Jimmy used to be, hungry and wild and fun. Probably because he isn't a millionaire but still just a musician from Key West.

But PS -- I still love you Jimmy. Thanks for all the fun you've given me over the last fifteen years and I'll be there the next time you play here. (Although could you lower the ticket prices a little)

5.0 out of 5 stars People need to listen to this., November 13, 2011

These are great recordings like all live albums. They need to be listened to as is. Not judged for what you want, but for what was given. I own all of these and each one is a flash back to great proformance by a great proformer of are time. You rarely see a tour with multiple live albums to it. You can see how he treats each crowd as if they where his own home town crowd. Keep it up Jimmy and love the live albums.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bring Back Fingers, February 17, 2004

I agree with the previous writer. This would have been much better with "Fingers" Taylor. Pirate Looks @ 40 without the harp is just not the same. Same with the other songs. The horns are no substitute for Fingers' harp. Overall Jimmy's live performances are still good but without the harp in his old songs it just sounds like something's missing. Maybe before every thing is said and done Fingers will rejoin Jimmy.

5.0 out of 5 stars SUNDRENCHED AND IN TO DEEP......., February 15, 2004
This review is from: Live in Mansfield Ma (Audio CD)
I REALLY HOPE THAT THIS IS POSTED, AND I REALLY HOPE THAT MAYBE A CERTAIN PERSON SEE'S THIS. FIRST I'D LIKE TO SAY THAT I LISTEN TO ALL BUFFETT ALBUMS I HAVE THEM ALL AND WILL CONTINUE TO BUY THEM. BUT I HAVE A SMALL REQUEST TO ALL PARROT HEADS, LETS GET GREG FINGERS TAYLOR BACK. JIMMY HAS ADDED HORNS TO MAKE UP FOR THE HARP. BUT IT'S JUST NOT THE SAME. THIS IS ALL JIMMYS FAULT IF HE WASN'T SUCH A GOOD SINGER/SONGWRITER AND IF GREG WASN'T SUCH A GREAT HARP PLAYER, THEN WE WOULDN'T EVEN BE HAVING THIS DISCUSSION. ALOT OF KNOW WHY GREG LEFT, AND I'M SURE THERE IS A WHOLE LOT WE WILL NEVER KNOW. NON THE LESS, JIMMY WRITES THE SONGS AND GREG TELLS THE STORY WITH THE HARP. WHAT CAN I SAY. I KNOW THAT THERE ARE OTHER MEMBERS IN THIS BAND AND I KNOW THAT THEY ALL ARE GREAT AT WHAT THEY DO. BUT, GREG AND JIMMY WERE THE CORAL REEFER BAND, AND THAT SOUND THAT THEY CRAFTED TOGETHER CANNOT BE REPLACED WITH HORNS. JIMMY IF YOU SEE THIS, I HOPE THAT BETWEEN YOU AND THE CORPORATE BIGWIGS CAN FOR AT LEAST ONE MORE ALBUM AND A TOUR LET THINGS GO BACK TO THE ISLANDS, JUST ONE MORE TIME, THE WAY IT USE TO BE.. NOW FOR THE REVIEW ON THE ALBUM OF COURSE, BUY IT! YOU'LL LIKE!
