I happened upon this album, having never heard of M. Lagrene before, but am I glad I did. This is absolutely blazing--but technically impressive--guitar. It's high-energy but never reaches the nerve-grating level. You can listen all day without feeling like you need a slow ballad to calm you. M. Lagrene is from the Django school, but the gypsy style does not dominate this album. It's hard bop, but, musically, it's just plain impressive. Treat yourself.
