Such a STELLAR concert video!!! Carly Simon is a musical icon who bewitches us with this amazing concert set in the gorgeous background of Martha's Vineyard! Carly, beautiful as ever, has a magical voice that sounds even more magnificent live! Her band is super-tight & the song selection pleases all, with wonderful selections from her vast array of hits! It has become a tradition for me to carry this DVD with me on flights to New York & to Boston! There's nothing quite like flying into New York in the evening while watching & listening to 'Nobody Does it Better'; or landing over Boston harbor while being enchanted by 'Do the Walls Come Down'. This DVD is simply MAGIC!!! I give this the HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION POSSIBLE!!! Carly RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Cool note: Sherry Goffin, one of singer-songwriter Carole King's talented daughters, is among the incredibly talented background singers!!!)

This is truly a great concert Carly is in fine form here. She looks Beautiful and sings beautifully. Nobody does it better indeed! Carly states that the concert or night before this was really good, or better, I cannot believe this, as she sounds like her records maybe even better due to the fact you can see her perform. One of the best live concerts ever filmed. If there were more than five stars to give she would have them all!

This has to be the best DVD concert of hers. I give it a five star. Highly recommend it.

The right elements came together for this concert. The songlist, the band, and most of all, the setting. A pier on Martha's Vineyard seems an unlikely choice of location for a concert, but it works. The scenery & colours surrounding the pier are fantastic and adds a contrast to a mostly AOR-pop setlist. You can tell its the 80s from the mostly pastel wardrobe the band is draped in, and the soft '80s camerawork. I don't think there was any remastering done on the original film; Had it had been fully remastered I might've given this DVD 5 stars.

If there was any lip-syncing going on I really don't care, since there were issues that may have affected the final product - weather, Carly's live performance anxiety... Some reviewers have made a point of bringing it up, I guess it hadn't occurred to me before, but it doesn't bother me.

Its great to hear Carly reminiscing on the concert in the dvd extras, and to see a glimpse of her photo scrapbook. Overall its just a great concert to savour with your eyes & ears. Its highly recommended even to the casual Carly Simon listener like myself. I only hope the Grand Central Station concert will be released on DVD someday as well.

I have searched for this DVD for months on Netflix and it is NOT AVAILABLE there ... however Amazon did have this excellent Carly Simon DVD transfer since I saw it on HBO in 1985.. one of her best! suggest you get it here and enjoy her.

Pure delight! Carly in the wild with the Atlantic breeze blowing her beautifull hair behind her. She appears to be among friends as their warmth helps to create a cozy setting for this event. This allows the full energy of Carly to emerge--in what we have been led to believe is not her comfort zone--live concerts. The kids' voices in the "Itsy-Bitsy Spider" song, cleverly interwoven with,"Coming Around Again" form a magnificent musical mandala. Video is, of course, a bit outdated. It's from 1987 and is shot in film technology of that time. Sure, the audio may be "lip-synced" or "voice-over," (sweetened?) but I'd rather that, than the poor acoustics of a windswept Martha's Vineyard with motorized water craft, sea birds and buoy bells competing for my attention! We do get some of that "atmosphere" between songs. The musical sound is just fine when played on my entry level BD player (DVD is standard format) through a good home theatre system. After the 59 minute concert, be certain to visit the bonus material for sections narrated by contemporary Carly, plus a bonus song from the cloudy day before.

In the bonus material, we get an insight into some of the intent in the songs offered--including, "You're so Vain." Two very different days, weatherwise, created some continuity issues. As a result of this, we do not get to see the whole of Carly's planned repertoire. She shares that her fingers were too cold to play a few of the songs on her planned playlist. This is our loss as she strums her guitar and plays the piano so well along with her velvet voice in what we DO get. Perhaps a future BD version could include some outtakes and alternates. I hope the original footage is stored safely in some vault. Pictures from her career & family album as well as an interesting discography complete the bonus material.

Thanks to Carly and whomever else got this DVD remastered and re-issued, cleaned up the sound and added the bonus material. I had been watching the marketplace price for the original DVD approach the $100 point for the last few years. This NOW is simply a "must have" that is within the reasonable reach of all who have known and loved Carly via her career. This DVD issue would appear to exceed the original in both quantity of Carly and precision of production.

I purchased 2 copies of this dvd, first when it became availible originally and once again after they re-released it. This is by far the BEST video concert I have seen in my life. (I'ts that good) From the beautiful scenic setting, to the powerful emotions that Carly displays in every song. If you are even "barely" a Carly fan this dvd will blow you away....See it with someone you love....

I am very fortunate to have the VHS and now the DVD of this concert, for all the Carly fans out there "this is a must have"!!

Ive been after this DVD for years, and to say I couldn't be happier is an understatement. The delivery was very fast, estimated date of delivery was beginning of march, yet it arrived in the middle of feb. It was packaged brilliantly and would definitely buy from this seller again.

I was concerned that with it coming from America that it wouldn't play on my DVD player due to different regions but that concern was unjustified and it played fine.

Good to see Carly again. We really enjoyed listening to her and the band on a windy Vineyard day. It's a keeper.
