Biography

South African native Dave Matthews formed his band in Virginia in the early 1990s, gaining a large fan base with constant college tours. Although musically rooted in live performance, the band's acoustic rock is colored with jazz and world-music influences, making for a mix that's difficult to pin down.

The band began when lawyer Ross Hoffman met a shy songwriter called Dave Matthews and convinced… Read more in Amazon's Dave Matthews Band Store

Editorial Reviews

Dave Matthews Band treated festival-goers to a super charged, electric set as the closer of the inaugural Mile High Music Festival outside Denver, Colorado in July 2008. Refreshed from a week-long respite midway through the annual summer tour, Dave Matthews Band delivered an incendiary two and a half hour performance, including new covers unveiled earlier in the summer. Highlights of the Live at Mile High release include 'Jimi Thing', which features a commanding solo by Boyd and Dave's entertaining scatting. Carter's thundering drum solo on 'Two Step', and Tim Reynolds' solos on 'You Might Die Trying' and 'Proudest Monkey' are not to be missed.

We were at the show and the sound quality of this venue was terrible. So I am amazed how well this album turned out. I have seen DMB a bunch of times and this by far the best show I have seen them put on, despite the sound issues. So naturally I was very excited to see this album was out!

Dave Snuck One In December 24, 2008
Format:Audio CD
I did not realize that there was going to be a new live retail cd (DMB has been selling their lives shows on their website) until I saw it while I was doing Christmas shopping. Like any DMB fan I realized I had to have it. I have all the albums and I suppose this one does the best job of providing both the Old / Classics and the New Songs (which dont seem to as raw or emitional). The treat is two songs that are covers that to my knowledge are the first time played on a live retail DMB cd.
All in all the quality is way better than a bootleg which with a little effort you could most likely find and the cd does a good job capturing the show.

This will give any DMB a quick fix until the new studio album is released in the Spring.

Wow August 2, 2011

Format:Audio CD
I am a long time DMB fan--I thought I had heard their best music over the years. I almost didn't buy this CD because I have so many and there are a lot of duplicate songs on it. I started listening to it as soon as I got it loaded on my IPOD --I was blown away! It shows a whole different side of DMB---it is highly energetic, a lot if it just kick __ss jamming, funky, music you want to dance to. There is some great jazz in some of the sings, some is straight up rock and roll(good rock and roll!)It is very high spirited, and Dave is in rare form in this CD..you can tell they had a great time doing this show and I sure wish I had been there!

I am so Damn Lucky to have found this CD. I love it. Especially the rendition of "so damn Lucky." I don't understand these music snobs that found it ho-hum. Read more

Well done Dave Matthews
As much as i love a DMB studio album you can't beat a live recording of the band. Hearing the band live is the way to truly enjoy them. Read more

Awsome Show
I was at this show so I am a little biased however this show is in my top 5 that I have been to. Not only is the set list great but the sound quality is awsome for a show.
