Better quality sound than the show itself.,
This review is from: Live At Mile High Music Festival (Audio CD)
We were at the show and the sound quality of this venue was terrible. So I am amazed how well this album turned out. I have seen DMB a bunch of times and this by far the best show I have seen them put on, despite the sound issues. So naturally I was very excited to see this album was out!

I did not realize that there was going to be a new live retail cd (DMB has been selling their lives shows on their website) until I saw it while I was doing Christmas shopping. Like any DMB fan I realized I had to have it. I have all the albums and I suppose this one does the best job of providing both the Old / Classics and the New Songs (which dont seem to as raw or emitional). The treat is two songs that are covers that to my knowledge are the first time played on a live retail DMB cd.All in all the quality is way better than a bootleg which with a little effort you could most likely find and the cd does a good job capturing the show. This will give any DMB a quick fix until the new studio album is released in the Spring.

My Personal Favorite DMB Album!,

This album really gets me going, much like all DMB music does. However, this one in particular is special. I have all the popular live albums (Central Park, Chicago, Red Rocks, Luther College, etc.) but the professionalism combined with authenticity in Live at Mile High just does it for me. Listen to Two-Step, Jimi Thing, and Ants Marching on this album, and I know you'll understand. Everything is just so well executed!

I am a long time DMB fan--I thought I had heard their best music over the years. I almost didn't buy this CD because I have so many and there are a lot of duplicate songs on it. I started listening to it as soon as I got it loaded on my IPOD --I was blown away! It shows a whole different side of DMB---it is highly energetic, a lot if it just kick __ss jamming, funky, music you want to dance to. There is some great jazz in some of the sings, some is straight up rock and roll(good rock and roll!)It is very high spirited, and Dave is in rare form in this CD..you can tell they had a great time doing this show and I sure wish I had been there!

I am so Damn Lucky to have found this CD. I love it. Especially the rendition of "so damn Lucky." I don't understand these music snobs that found it ho-hum. Maybe they didn't listen to the whole cd. Who knows. All I know is that this compilation of material is wonderful and I will happily make it a part of my DMB collection. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys good live music.

This live album is an example of the talent the greatest band in the world holds. When a band can sound even better live than their studio recording they are truely talented/gifted. Reynolds the new addition, I'm afraid, is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. He just hasn't found his place yet.

This is a terrific example of why DMB is such a successful touring band. "Old Dirt Hill" never sounded better. The replacement saxphonist for Leroi Moore (RIP) breathes new life into "#41". Tim Reynolds repeatedly shines on guitar. The album successfully mixes light (like Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer") and dark (such as Dave's solo song "Gravedigger") and various shades in between ("Die Trying").

Hope you can understand my english.I had been a DMB fan since 1998, when a friend of mine lend me "Before these crowded streets". When I listened for the first time, it was love at first sight. Since then, I bough every single DMB album and live realease. But the years passed, and some time in 2006 or 07 I stop listening to much to DMB. I keept my fave tunes on my iPod but didn't love them like the early years. "Stand up" had something to do with it, even If I loved some tunes on that album. It wasn't the same feeling. Then I heard Leroi died, Butch left, and I was really worried about the future of the band. So it made me curious again about them. So 3 weeks ago I bought this live album. DMB is back. Tim makes us forget about Butch and Jeff is a great follow up for Leroi (even if he was really a master). "So damm lucky", "two step", "41", "proudest monkey" set the field for a reborn DMB who is solid than ever and really making great music together. They are somethings that feels diferent from the Butch - Leroi era, but I believe new can be good, mostly for a band that have almost 20 years together. Today, DMB sounds good, solid, fresh, young. Carter is DMB more than Dave himself. I'm really proud of musicians that have the nerve to reinvent their music and themselfs, like Blues Traveler for an example. Can't wait to listen to the new album (that I already pre order).

Well done Dave Matthews,

As much as i love a DMB studio album you can't beat a live recording of the band. Hearing the band live is the way to truly enjoy them. Live at Mile High is a great live album for all types of DMB fans. This concert was an amazing show that included some of DMB biggest songs(two step, ants marching, stay, Louisiana Bayou, too much) as well as a few newer jams(Eh hee and cornbread) and DMB suprised us with two great cover songs(sledgehammer and thank you). This is the first album to be released by the band without saxophonist LeRoi Moore and the first to feature Bela Fleck and the Flecktones saxophonist Jeff Coffin for the entire set. Its sad knowing LeRoi wont be back but Coffin really fills his stop nicely. Tim Reynolds also played with the band the whole tour so you'll hear him rip so nice guitar solos on You Might Die Trying and Proudest Monkey. The only problem i have with DMB is that they're releasing so many different live albums as well as live tracks with the same songs on it. So i am anxiously waiting for their new album to be released to get a new set songs throw into the mix. Overall though great album to own and is a must buy for all you DMB concert goers out there.
