Biography

It has been 25 years since the heavy metal holocaust known as GWAR burst upon our world in an explosion of blood, guts, and screaming steel. In this time they have revealed themselves not only as the un-disputed masters of “shock rock”, but also as an international cultural icon that has both touched the lives, and in some cases ruined the clothing, of many thousands of people. Often copied, never… Read more in Amazon's Gwar Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Gwar Must Die!, June 21, 2005
This review is from: Live From Mt Fuji (Audio CD)
Ok, not really. If you're a Gwar fan, this is an awesome cd. You're already tuned into their wicked sense of humor, which is in full effect.
Soundwise...yeah Oderus' vocals could have been mixed a little higher but it's not like they're buried under a puddle of sludge. The musicianship is pretty tight. Oderus' stage banter is worth the price alone.
Be a good slave and pick this up!

5.0 out of 5 stars An awesome album!, June 23, 2005

Bonerus Viagrus (??????????????????) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live From Mt Fuji (Audio CD)
I got this album for what I thought was a little much, but if it can help out the greatest band ever formulated, then I'm willing to pay the price. I had never heard Salaminizer, Sick of You, Horror of Yig, or Crush, Kill, Destroy before but I bought Scumdogs after hearing this album. I love this entire album. The Salaminizer is a perfect opener to this album. I have to get a copy of N.W.A.'s album to see if the intro is really a face-on bite of the song like everyone says. Then comes Krosstika which is my second favorite song on War Party. The song is incredible live! Then comes Osama bin Laden and a nuclear bomb. Bring Back the Bomb, an awesome track that is unbelievable to hear live. The song is tight on its own. Then we are treated to Ham on the Bone which is quickly begun and as soon as it started, it's over. An in your face heavy metal song to get the blood flowing if the first three didn't do it for you. Then comes Immortal Corruptor which I think is better with the slower tempo and when Flattus contributes to the beginning of it, oh yeah baby! The song is definitely a gem on this album. Then the quick Womb With A View which is an excellent song and this album wouldn't be complete without it. Then the track that many will talk about for a long, long time. Have You Seen Me? and, of course, a special guest whom everyone in the country should know about. I'm not gonna say her name because you need to hear it for yourself. It's pretty tasteless, hilarious, and genius. Horror of Yig, I'll say that I think the album version is better, but this version is louder. It's still a good song. I didn't think they would play a song from Ragnarok but I was wrong. Crush, Kill, Destroy is a short song, but the commentary is funny as hell. Crack In The Egg, an excellent song, but not the best on AMBD. I think this is probably where they take on Gor-Gor whom I think is back on tour with them as I saw on the Womb With A View video on War Party. The Reaganator is an explosive song live and is definitely worth the price of the album alone. It's incredible to hear this song actually played live. Bonesnapper is a masterpiece of a song on War Party and it doesn't lose anything hear, except the intro. Flattus' guitar on this track is mind-blowing. He can really rip out a solo. Sick of You, I had never heard this song, but after hearing it I had to get Scumdogs. Then they take an intermission to project some fluids into the crowd and close it out with Biledriver. I didn't believe everyone that said Biledriver sounds a lot better live but they were right. It's amazing to hear it live. That's it for the tracks. I think that if you've never been to a GWAR show, like me, that this gives you some sort of idea of what it's like. I'd love to see these guys live. I agree that Oderus' vocals could have been a little louder but I still think that the music makes up for it. The commentary in between songs is hilarious. I think this would have been even better if they had played either Decay of Grandeur, my favorite on War Party, The Road Behind, my favorite on AMBD, or Sammy, my favorite GWAR song EVER!!!! I want to hear Sammy performed live. Oh well. Buy this album. Support GWAR and DRT so they can produce more.

P.S. Who agrees that moving to DRT was the best thing GWAR ever did, besides become a band?

Awesome! Gwar is getting better as they get older. This rocks as well as the earlier Violence Has Arrived and War Party. Gwar will live forever!
