4.0 out of 5 stars Great live effort
I don't consider myself a hardcore hip-hop fan. Over the past 15 years, I've purchased a total of six rap/hip-hop CDs and cassette tapes. I like some of the beats, but the language and generally negative vibes turn me off. Jay-Z's album fills a pretty big void in my CD collection. The Roots band is completely off the chain. The sound quality leaves much to be...

The sound quality leaves much to be desired, but the beats are tight; and the lack of gratuitous profanity makes this CD a pleasure to listen to. On "Takeover" Jay gets a little aggressive in his language, but it doesn't detract from the song's flow.

All in all, I recommend this CD for those people who enjoy hip hop but don't particularly like the language.

5.0 out of 5 stars BIG JAY-Z FAN, August 11, 2008

Great CD! It is a compilations of some of his greatest hits up to the time of its release. The Roots Band did an excellent job of backing up Jay-Z. I only buy the edited versions, but if you are a fan of Jay-Z, you should enjoy either version of Unplugged.
