Editorial Reviews

Paying tribute to an incredibly significant time in Earle's career, this concert album showcases Earle's performance at the Polk Theater in Nashville, Tennessee on December 1, 1995. The concert features the Train Band (Norman Blake, Peter Rowan and Roy Huskey, Jr.) and special guests Emmylou Harris and Bill Monroe joining the rocking singer-songwriter onstage for this unforgettable performance.

I wasn't willing to pony up for the Warner Brothers box set this disc is part of since I already had the 3 studio albums that were packaged along with it, so I am REALLY glad it's been released as a standalone CD. The performance and sound quality are both first-rate, making this is a definite must-have for Steve Earle fans especially if (like me) you regard Train a Comin' as his best work.

An excellent addition to the Steve Earle catalog. Even though 10 of the 14 cuts on this recording appeared on the 1995 studio album "Train A Comin'", if you like Earle definitely pick this up. The same band is backing him on this live set (Norman Blake is one of my all-time favorite musicians) but there is more energy here than on the studio release. Bill Monroe and Emmylou Harris provide backing vocals and the result is a great live recording. Very highly recommended.

A live Rendition of Earle's terrific acoustic album Train A-comin' with great guest vocals from an enthusiastic Emmylou Harris and even a guest number by the ledgendary Bill Monroe. Earle is in fine voice and his backing band are the masters who backed him on Train A-comin'. Great performances and sound on this must have Steve Earle gem.

I am not a raving Steve Earle fan, some of his music I like and some I don't. What set this apart is first, you get some of his best songs like Copperhead Road in a raw live format. Personally I don't find his voice as sharp anymore but it does sound wonderful on this CD. It is like sitting in a little bar with a couple of beers listening to him play. It has that kind of feel to it. He is a great storyteller and you do get to hear some of his best songs the way they were meant to be heard. Sample a couple and see for yourself.

This is fast becoming one of my fave S.E recordings. Yeah, alot of the songs are on Train A Comin but dont' let it deter you from buying this. Trust me, i have both. The version of Rivers of Babylon on here is better that the one on T-A-C
