Live Favorites,

This review is from: Live From New Orleans (Audio CD)
To tide fans over until her new full length release comes out this fall, Ginny Owens has released this special live recording. Recorded in New Orleans (obviously), it features hits from all three of her previous releases with two new tracks.
WITHOUT CONDITION is represented by "I Wanna Be Moved," "Free," and "If You Want Me To." "With Me" and "True Story" come from SOMETHING MORE. Closing out the familiar tracks are "Call Me Beautiful," "I Love the Way," and "New Song" from BEAUTIFUL. Also included is a cover of "Let Love Rule" and a new song - "Live Once." My understanding is that this last song is a preview from her upcoming release, but I could be wrong. Either way, I really like this reminder to keep singing even during the dark times. Stylistically, this CD sounds more like BLUEPRINT then anything else. It's very heavy on the R&B influence. Since that works for Ginny, it's really not a problem. There is only one track that includes any talking, so this will stand up to repeated listening, unlike some live CD's I've bought. Rocketown seems to be releasing lots of collections recently. While I love their artists, I hope they focus a little more on new projects rather then repackaged music. Having said that, this CD offers enough different arrangements to make it worth a listen for Ginny's fans.

For the Cool in You....,

A Christian CD for bohemian moods, 'Live from New Orleans' is a simple (no liner-lyrics) under-the-radar release of mostly familiar Owens songs, just sung differently. Owens' trademark, effortlessly sublime voice is hippiefied a notch, giving an even smoother sound to hits like "Free"(deliverance praise), "With Me" (abiding presence praise), and my favorite: "If You Want Me To" (encouragement for valley trials). Besides her voice and piano (which is brought out on this CD), Owens is known for meaningful lyrics that are scriptural but not preachy, soul-piercing, observationally relevant, and poetic, vividly invoking the senses in a way that's especially amazing since she's blind. One head's up though, there is a track (#3) that's spoken sharing and which breaks the flow of the music.

Live From New Orleans - worthy find,
This review is from: Live From New Orleans (Audio CD)
I am not a fan of live records, but I enjoyed this album. There is one song that includes too much talking, towards the begining, but it's tolerable. Overall, a great selection including plenty of Ginny Owens favorites.Ginny Owens Live from New Orleans

I was already familiar with this CD, so I knew the content was good. The CD was in excellent condition for being a used CD, and I received it very quickly. I am very happy, and would purchase from this seller again.
