Ellyn Rucker, a Denver-based pianist/singer traveled to New Orleans in the early nineties and taped this excellent concert for fans of this jazz style. She was accompanied by bassist Mark Singer and drummer Jill Frederickson, who are also Denver-based musicians, or were at the time.

The music is well-played, with a mix of standards and jazz-standards; some vocal and some instrumental. Ellyn sings in a classic, cool, post-bop style with some (minimal) scatting, and her piano work is quite exciting and well-executed. Her two cohorts are equally enjoyable to listen to. Ellyn gives both of them ample solo time to demonstrate their considerable talent and musical proficiency.

All-in-all, it's a most enjoyable video produced by John Beyer ("Great Chefs of New Orleans.") Highly recommended; this is a hard-swinging group!!

Hi, dear Toots fans.Actually I am pretty new to know the old lovely harmonica player andthis video gave me the FIRST chance to see him playing and talking.I am really feeling happy listening to his heartful sound and voice, and looking his figure and face.
