5.0 out of 5 stars The Real GRAND FUNK!!
The Title might be NrG and maybe Mark Farner has to call his band something other than Grand Funk Railroad BUT there is no mistaking what is on this CD. It is GRAND FUNK !!! This is no Vegas type lounge act pumping out greatest hits. This is a trip back in time that only Mark Farner can be your tour guide for!
This is as close as you can get to going back to 1970 and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but not what I expected for a GFR clone band
I have been a fan of GFR and specifically Mark Farners' since 1969 (how can you be a fan of da Funk and not Farner's, right?). Anway, his voice is amazing still to this day but this release is just not where it should be for this time in his career. I have read his bio, "From Grand Funk to Grace" and can read between the lines enough to recognize that Mark, Don...

This is as close as you can get to going back to 1970 and getting blasted by the 3 piece Grand Funk that carved it's place in rock history. Farner's band rocks! FARNER IS GRAND FUNK!!!

this disc captures the true GRAND FUNK. I know I was at the shows recorded here. A three piece trio the only way the funk should be. Cant miss with this buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for any Mark Farner/classic rock fan, November 25, 2003
This review is from: Live Nrg (Audio CD)
This recording, done in Chicago and Milwaukee in March of this year, is excellent. Mark, Lawrence and Hubert never miss a beat here, and the music on this CD is like having a seat at one of Mark's shows. Some of the best songs included here are Into the Sun, Aimless Lady, Inside Looking Out, and of course I'm Your Captain/Closer to Home. Even if you don't know who Mark Farner is, this is a great introduction to his music.

Crank this one up, and rattle your windows and shake your floors. Well worth it!

I have been a fan of GFR and specifically Mark Farners' since 1969 (how can you be a fan of da Funk and not Farner's, right?). Anway, his voice is amazing still to this day but this release is just not where it should be for this time in his career. I have read his bio, "From Grand Funk to Grace" and can read between the lines enough to recognize that Mark, Don and Mel need to seriously bury the hatchet and either move on together or stop trying to clone the past with other band members. It was and still is great music but it is starting to get a bit embarassing. Mark's voice is truly a gift from God and although he seems to have moved past the dedicated spiritual side of his life, he would be wise to return.
