5.0 out of 5 stars REAL Reggae, LIVE
Steel Pulse delivers old school reggae, with a 90's twist. Not like the sh*t reggae-rap which you can hardly understand. This album is just like seeing the infamous Steel Pulse live, which I also highly recommend!

BUY THIS ALBUM. You won't regret it

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid, yes, but....
This live cd from arguably the most talented and versatile reggae bands showcases much of their skill, however there is a large amount of rap influences and dancehallish stylee in the mix, so roots reggae buyers beware. Without their original bassist and guitarist, Pulse by the late eighties-I feel -suffered a serious blow to their sound. Definitely a purchase for...

5.0 out of 5 stars Steel Pulse at their best, August 9, 2005
By
Wow. I was amazed to see that someone actually did not care for this album. This live in Paris album is quite possibly the greatest reggae album ever. Contrary to another comment, the sound quality is crystal clear and Steel Pulse has never performed with such a large number of instruments. The synthesizers and rap you hear are from the killer guest appearance of KRS-1, which helped make this album amazing and way ahead of its time. The rap is a short and very pleasing surprise close to the end of the CD that moves the entire crowd into glorious participation with the band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Would not have made it through some allnighters.., February 23, 2001

if it wasn't for this CD. My buddy Keith introduced me to the band. I had heard of Bob Marley and thouroughly enjoyed his music but felt like I needed to round out my reggae education. Henceforth Steel Pulse was thrust into my ears and I felt like I was there in Montmarte, Paris in that small sweaty club listening to some reggae legends. The music is superb, and the mood is positive. A few years later I actually got to live in Paris for 9 months and lived a 5 minute walk from the Elyses Montmarte. Everytime I walked by I could only imagine what happened years earlier in that place- pure magic. This album is a classic- buy it, sit back and turn the lights low. Reggae Fever!

5.0 out of 5 stars Live music gives special touch, December 6, 1999

Steel Pulse plays live!. This cd is a perfect sample of a band which can play both live and in the studio in a perfect way. The voice of the leading singer fits harmonious into the music. Not too much people screeming at the back, but pure reggae music.

Definitely a purchase for converted fans, but newbies should look their earlier work to see what all the fuss is about. Irie I.

3.0 out of 5 stars Living Legacy is much better, July 8, 2002
THis album just isn't that good. The recording quality is nowhere near that of Pulse's other live album, "Living Legacy." Plus there are not enough real instruments, too many synthesizers and whatnot. Furthermore, there are so absolutely atrocious raps on a few tracks, ughh!! the rapper they use is just not good at all.
But there are a few good tracks such as Taxi Driver. However if you want a live Pulse album, Living Legacy is twice as good as this.

Steel Pulse's album of their live performance in Paris is a masterpiece and a very good compilation of their hit songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Steel Pulse album, December 3, 2005
I have owned all of the Steel Pulse albums w/ the exception of Living Legacy (will try it out)and I love this one the best. I used to listen to it in High School and needed a new copy. Still love it. I like roots and real instruments, but I don't think that this killed the vibe.

This is one of Steel Pulse's best albums ever. If you don't have it yet you are lacking a very great CD in your collection. I also recommend Living Legacy in addition to this one, however don't forget to get this one first.
