Hi.
I just purchased the dvd/cd combo of "Lionel Richie Live in Paris". When playing the dvd in dolby digital 5.1, I noticed there is virtually no sound coming out of the front left speaker. However, there is sound coming out of all the other speakers. Has anybody noticed the same problem? I've emailed Island records and am awaiting a response. Because of the sound defect, I've not been able to fully enjoy the concert.

I have exchanges 3 different copies on the latest Lionel Richie - Live in Paris CD/DVD. All 3 copies DVD on the 5.1 Surround Sound doesn't have any sound coming out on left channel on the 5.1 Surround Sound. I have contact his record labels and they have e-mail me or contact me back at all. That's how they treat their fans.

This Live DVD is just ok ,the dvd menu is irritating slow to start the show,plus I had seen Lionel Richie live at the Bermuda Music Festival and his performance there was incredable ,his voice in this show seems off to me.the stadium in paris is big and at times he seems overwhelmed .
Lionel Richie is a great artist but this show will not wow you and does little to showcase his mighty talent.

Lionel Richie was one of the very first CD's I bought back in 1983 and naturally I enjoy the Commodores too. When I saw this CD/DVD I bought it right away. I started with the CD, was that a mistake? Since I could not see him performing I listened for anything that would lead me to believe he was there, somewhere, singing. I did not hear the voice I remember. To me this sounds like Karaoke night somewhere in Paris. If you remeber Lionel from his famous songs that have made him so rich, and allowed his daughter to tramp around Hollywood with Paris then skip this mistake. Whatever happened to Lionel, I hope he recovers, takes voice lessons perhaps. I feel bad for him, another talent lost to the ravages of time. One star for the pretty package.

the concert has a bunch of great songs.
Lionel, the band, and the audience all appear to be having a great time.
Unfortunately, Island Records put out a faulty product.
There is no 5.1 surround sound to the DVD. sound is completely missing out of the left channel.
it defeats the purpose of playing a concert DVD.

This concert it is a very good performance from lionel ritchie the sound the image perfect.

Great CD/DVD combo. Lionel Richie at his best!!!! Great for watching and listening to with your loved one. Highly recommend this product.

i knew the product in which i was ordering, but the service from start to finish was perfect and the delivery was even much earlier than projected

This is, simply, an embarassment.
Towards the beginning of the concert Lionel claims to the audience that they will "remember where they were this night."
Sadly, they will do so but not with fondness...
Here are some of the reasons to avoid this abomination:
The sound does not have good digital presence -- despite the misleading comments on the packaging.
Richie ruins his best songs by stopping singing halfway through the phrase in order to have the audience sing the rest. This is so badly done it is comical and it makes listening to the song impossible.
Richie's voice has become strident and his constant exhortations to the crowd are a parody of his former skills. Constant self-adulation such as his inappropriate statement "Unbelievable" makes even the space between the numbers offensive.
You will hate yourself if you buy this DVD.

I found Lionel Richie live in Paris was really awesome. I say go out & buy you,ll be glad you did. Or id buy the dvd that comes with his new CD.
