This is the best book on prayer, that I've read. I will confess, even after reading this book, I still don't understand all the mysteries of prayer, but I understand a lot more. This book tackles hard questions such as 'can we really change God's mind with prayer?', 'why does prayer seem not to work', 'how to pray', 'what is the purpose of prayer', etc. It gives concrete steps on how to develope a praying life and is heartily, biblically, referenced.

This book isn't just a book. It's a 3-month journey through what prayer is. Jennifer walks you through the deep truths about prayer so that you will know them AND apply them. It also brings out the freshest and truest views on what prayer really is. You will not leave this book unchanged.

P.S. And I live with her oldest son. He's tall.

This is a study that I refer to constantly! I have given it to many people and the result is always the same....."this is one of the most awesome studies I have ever done....."! I bought it for my 4 sisters and mother and we started it together at Christmas, which has resulted in several group Bible Studies and a weekend seminar on Prayer!

I studied Live A Praying Life with a small group years ago. I review the study at least once a year with a partner or small group. It serves to continually encourage and remind me of the awesome truths the Live A Praying Life study contains. I have given the book as a gift to many people. Without exception every one of them has thanked me for introducing them to this life-changing study. Jennifer's workbook is so well done that it will forever change your understanding of prayer. She puts powerful concepts into ordinary, everyday language that is true to God's word, yet totally relates to today's Christian. This is an in-depth study of scripture, but it easily fits into the busy lifestyle we all engage in today. I can't recommend Live A Praying Life enough. Be sure to order more than one copy because you will immediately want to include someone else in your journey.

This 13-week study goes back to the biblical basics of prayer, cleaning out myths about prayer to rev up a powerful, ongoing connection to God that can invigorate every aspect of a Christian's life. The author tackles the complex theological questions: If God is sovereign, why pray? If prayer is not a way to change God's mind, what is it? It's a way, she illustrates, for God to send His power and provision into the world through His people. The study takes a detailed look at prayer's purpose, process, promise, and practice.

This study is definitely ranked in the top 5 bible studies I have read this year. Jennifer Kennedy Dean has changed the way I approach prayer. She is not afraid to ask the difficult questions and she gives biblically based answers that are easy to follow. I have been a Christian since 3rd grade and have grown up in the church all my life, but this book helped me begin from square one and led me deeper into a relationship with Christ. I learned new truths that helped me in my prayer life. This is wonderful study to do alone or with a group. I highly recommend this study.

MORE THAN JUST A HOW TO BOOK. LESSON S IN PREPARATION, DISCPLINE, OBEDIENCE, PATIENCE, FAITHFULNESS, & GAINING A NEW LEVEL TO ONE'S SPIRITUAL LIFE AND GROWTH. MUCH NEEDED MATERIAL WHEN THERE'S SO MUCH CONTROVERSY REGARDING HEARING FROM GOD AND ACTING ON HIS PROMISES. INTERCESSORS SHOULD NOT MISS THIS ONE!

This study is amazing. The author is very skilled in helping the student understand God's sovereignty and our free will and how it all relates to our prayer life. The overall message of the study is that prayer is not the words we say between "Dear Lord" and "Amen". Instead, prayer is a relationship that permeates who we are, what we think and what we do.

I have read numerous books on prayer and done several Bible studies on prayer, but nothing has transformed my prayer life like this book. If I had to choose one Bible study that I believe would benefit every believer it is this one!
We are doing it right now at our church and each week we are blown away by what we learn. GET THIS BOOK!

This is the companion book for the DVD series and I have found it to be very helpful to use it during the week to review the information shared in the DVD. It also has questions and stories that are not part of the DVD so are helpful to have for discussion after viewing the DVD. This is the most powerful study I have ever participated in regarding prayer. The author is a great communicator with wonderful examples. It has changed my understanding of how God's power is manifested on earth when we live a praying life. I highly recommend this study.

This book came to me in "good as new" condition. It arrived quickly and was less expensive (even with the shipping cost) then I could have bought it locally. Plus, it came right to my door. No fuss, no muss. I like that. This book can be used individually, but is meant to be part of a study group complete with the author's teaching video.
