This review is from: Live from 'The Pretty Parlor' (Audio CD)
the sound this band makes is so original, and so pleasing and stimulating to my auditory sensory... is wicked cool! the edgyness of early, early, pink floyd compares. kay kay is way ahead of our time, as was pink floyd. the mix of instruments is musical genius, and when the song completely changes 2 a different melody, it segways perfectly. like, it is just supposed to be just that way. when i think of bohemian rhapsody, which is also edgy, and the song changes completely to a different song, its not as smooth and polished... not perfectly perfect as do the musicians in Kay Kay and his Weathered Underground. love it. if u have a well developed and sophisticated pallett for your ears, this is a MUST 4 ur collection.

Well, I wouldn't call it exactly original. It's original to people who haven't listened to anything made before 1982 in the way that Interpol was original to anyone who hadn't listened to Joy Division before. But that's partly what's refreshing about it, especially live, is that Kay Kay is making music unlike anyone else who is making music right now, even if it is kind of a mish-mash of pretty well-tread styles. But anyway, don't get me wrong, the song writing is absolutely fantastic and the arrangements are fantastically diverse and complex. Hey Momma and Simon Courage (LISTEN TO THAT EPIC OUTRO!) are pop masterpieces. Highly recommended to anyone and everyone.
