4.0 out of 5 stars A fine album., April 23, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Live From Rainbow & Stars (Audio CD)
I have had this album for several years; and I still enjoy giving it a play from time to time. One of Ms. McBroom's greatest qualities is an ability to draw you into the music. With her you do not only hear the song, you feel it....in a way that is genuinely heartfelt, rather than neurotic. I have to say that my own personal favorite is "The Dieter's Prayer," a song for anyone whose love of food is as great as their love for music. If you ever take yourself too seriously, listen to it. This album is a real keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Lady is Perfection, December 17, 2004
This review is from: Live From Rainbow & Stars (Audio CD)
Beg, steal or borrow all Amanda's recordings - they are few enough. This lady has class, humour, sex appeal, a voice to melt the hardest heart with a range and phrasing that would be hard to surpass. Listen to her sing her own compositions and let her draw you into each magical episode. She is a magician, a weaver of tales, totally mesmerising. She can make you smile, make you laugh, make you cry and most of all, just make you remember that wonderful range of emotions we all experience throughout out lives and loves.

Check out her website and see what she is up to - if she is appearing within 500 miles of you - go and see her. She is a cabaret performer without equal in these days of brash over produced performers. Try taking your eyes off her when she is on stage - it is impossible. And once the songs are in your head they remain in your heart.

This was the first CD of Amanda's I purchased and I was hooked by the second time I had listened to it. Errol Flynn, Ship in a Bottle, Breathe You in - poignant and evocative and beautiful.

Everyone Wants to be Sondheim, Dieter's Prayer - just listen to her sense of fun. Each track on here is a perfect gem. And of course The Rose. So many good versions out there but this is the lady who wrote the song and no one delivers it quite like she does.

If you have not discovered Amanda you have a wonderful voyage ahead of you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Time has not wearied her, July 22, 2008
This review is from: Live From Rainbow & Stars (Audio CD)
Having seen Amanda in June of this year(2008), at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival I can assure any purchaser that not only has she maintained her unique ability but "Live from the Rainbow & Stars" is a great presentation of her in "Full Swing"
