5.0 out of 5 stars Rock and Roll Lover
Wow Little Feat all acoustic on two CD's. I do like the electric
stuff better, but this CD does not have a bad song on it.
Shaun Murphy shines on the CD, Her singing on "On Your Way Down"
gave me goose bumps. I didn't think "Easy To Slip" could be sung
by anyone but Lowell George. I was proved wrong, Easy To Slip
and I Know You...

3.0 out of 5 stars I hate to, but
I bought this on the strength of the band, and yes they are great musicians all. But this record just doesn't work for me. Shawn's voice sounds a little to pushed, the keyboard solo's seem to wander and what makes the guitar sounds so great electric, just isn't there for me. I mean no disrespect to the band, but I just can't get into this record. In some ways I agree with...

The new feat is great in ways that the old feat were not, and vice versa. I have Waiting for Columbus in my player now........

I really hate to have to write this, because to me Little Feat, bar none, is the finest rock band to walk the earth. That said this an extremely dissapointing album. Though I must say I haven't been able to get thru it all (it possibly gets better towards the end, but I doubt it). All my bitchin' is not pointed toward the band, as usual they're at there best. My complaint is the sound, it SUCKS. I know I am spoiled by Waiting for Columbus. But this sounds as if they are using a boot-leg master. The vocals seem to not even be in the same building as the rest of the concert. With technology what it is today there is no excuse for this. A Little Feat accoustic concert should have been "da bomb" as the kids say. We Feat fans deserve better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD Set, December 4, 2002
By
This review is from: Live at the Rams Head (Audio CD)
You can ignore evolu10484 above. Was Lowell George great? You bet. Are the living band members great? Yes, and Live at the Rams Head proves it.

I've purchased and listened to this 2 CD set (although I doubt evolu10484 did). It is among Little Feat's best, new or old! Thanks to the acoustic performance, the live recording, the improvisation, and few new twists, the songs are different enough from previous releases to make this CD a good buy, even if you already own many other Little Feat CDs.

Live at the Rams Head is thoroughly enjoyable, and I highly recommend it.

A truly wonderful collection of semi-acoustic music from a band that keeps getting better ... Little Feat's music keeps evolving, changing and improving, and this CD set is a wonderful compilation of 6 sets of music over 3 days in 2001 from a great little club in Maryland ... tight musicianship, loose boogies and wonderful wanderings will have you rocking and smiling the whole time. If you think life ended when Lowell died, think again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pay no attention to that guy, December 3, 2002
This review is from: Live at the Rams Head (Audio CD)
Ignore Mr. Caps-Lock who thinks Robert Palmer or (shudder) Eddie Vedder would sing these classics and fine new songs better than Paul Barrere (Lowell George's sidekick since high school and frontman of the Feat since their 1988 reunion), co-founder Bill Payne, the inimitable Sam Clayton, or the first lady of Little Feat, Shaun Murphy. This band is at the peak of its musical prowess despite the loss of the brilliant Lowell George way back in 1979. If you must live in the past, don't miss the reissued Waiting For Columbus with lots of unrelased stuff. If you are a little more open minded get Ripe & Raw Tomatoes with a fine selection of Lowell-era and post-Lowell live cuts. If you want to hear one of the best bands in the business as they are today, semi-acoustic (full rhythm section and keyboards but with acoustic guitars & mandolin instead of electrics) then don't miss this one!

This 2 disc set of acoustic Little Feat just cooks from beginning to end.

These 7 performers are all at the top of their games and they're working from the best damned song book around. This set of discs has been in heavy rotation since i got them. Everytime I listen, I'm more impressed.

Don't miss this release!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nifty Album, December 6, 2005

I actually like this set better than "Waiting for Columbus". While I understand why some might find the sound quality, or the lack thereof, to be bothersome, I find that it tends to put you there live in the room. I especially enjoy the treatment on "Easy to Slip -> I Know You Rider".

I do not consider myself a rabid Feat fan and would suggest that this album, along with "Columbus", lends a collection a good "before and after" representation.

can't agree with other reviewers ,these songs just don't work as well with anybody other than Lowell singing them ,the band is just as good as ever but there's something missing .Even the Craig Fuller era feat were close but only as he sounded so much like Lowell. Not a patch on "Waiting for Columbus" their fantastic live album from 1978 .Also have to criticize the sound quality ,rather thin and lacking real prescence, seems everybody these days likes to put a pickup on their accoustic guitars which does not give you the natural accoustic sound.Every group has to call it a day eventually
