5.0 out of 5 stars Dance Hall Crashers do it ONCE AGAIN!
Aaah, what can I say? This album is awesome! It is one hour and ten minutes of pure DHC goodness. 25 great songs that will keep you dancing constantly. I also must admit that all 25 live songs are catchier than when they are found on their CDs..

The Dance Hall Crashers have worked there butts off on this record and it all came out superb. It's a definitely awesome...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a great beginner's CD
This is my first intro to DHC. I am a big fan of groups with intelligent or interesting lyrics (TMBG, Barenaked Ladies, Nerfherder) and used the Amazon recommendation to look into them. I figured this would hit their better songs and let me decide if I want to pursue them further.

The problem with a live album is that it is harder to understand the lyrics so I am not...

The Dance Hall Crashers have worked there butts off on this record and it all came out superb. It's a definitely awesome simulation of a real DHC concert... Elyse and Karina give a great performance and are hilarious when they give there own little quirks "on stage..".. Also, the re-make of "American Girl" is awesome.

Ahh this album is the best in my collection. It's fun music with upbeat EVERYTHING! The crowd is awesome and their chanting of "DHC" on the album is just inspiring :) If you haven't been to a DHC show, or even if you HAVE - purchase this album.. the whole CD is *AMAZING*..

4.0 out of 5 stars Better Live than recorded, best DHC CD, October 18, 2002
This review is from: Live Record: Witless Banter & 25 Midly Antoginisti (Audio CD)
If you're only going to own one DHC CD, it should be this one. It is a bit of a greatest hit compilation (though I miss Pick Up Lines and Setting Sun and some others) and many of the songs are better than on the studio recordings. I'll probably never get to see them live, but obviously they are meant to be heard that way.

If you can sit still through this CD, then something is wrong, because its mostly fast with many great lyrics.

Word of caution: DHC and the Ska sound is not everyone's cup of tea. But that is their loss.

Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars DHC Live: What a Live Record Should Be., November 22, 2000

If you're a Dance Hall Crashers fan this will be a slice of heaven. If you're new to them... well,it'll still be a slice of heaven but an informative one, because this record samples all of the DHC albums, giving the listener a good taste of past and present.Since many of the songs are edgier and faster than the studio tracks at times (most of the time actually) I enjoyed them even more than the studio recordings. The occasional short exchanges between the extraordinary vocalists Karina and Elyse are quiet funny and to the point.I'd point out standout tracks but all 25 from the fast 'We Owe' to slow and moving 'Cricket' are great. This is the best live record I've heard and it should be in any ska/punk-pop fans collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Live Album Capturing the Energy of a DHC Show, December 25, 2011

This album is wonderful and makes me nostalgic of all the times I saw DHC in the 1990s. Production is great and there is a great variety of songs spanning DHC's career.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like a Best Of, December 31, 2007
This review is from: Live Record: Witless Banter & 25 Midly Antoginisti (Audio CD)
THE BAND:
Dance Hall Crashers are a 3rd wave ska band. Unusually, there are no horns, instead 2 female vocalists. So this album is a collection of ska and punk songs with a slightly softer edge due to the female vocals. If you like Reel Big Fish, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Less Than Jake then you should check it out.

THIS CD:
As for this particular album, the sound quality is excellent so there's no worries that it's a live recording. And the "witless banter" between songs gives it a bit of personality. Yes, the vocals are fast and hard to understand (not unusual for this style), but you can always look them up on the web. 25 tracks means this is like a Best Of. Dance Hall Crasher aficionados will probably want all of their studio albums instead, but most other people will be very happy with this CD.

To anyone reading this review, BUY THIS CD! I bought it after not knowing many DHC songs and it knocked me off of my feet. The CD was instantly on the list as one of my all time favorite CD's. There isn't one song on here not worth listening to. Trust me, it's the kind of CD you listen to in your car and decide to keep driving around, just so you can keep listening to..alright maybe I'm the only one that happened to, but trust me, there is not one song on here that you won't want to listen to. SO BUY IT ALREADY!

This CD proves that even after 11 years in the recording industry, DHC STILL is alive and rockin'! This happens to be my favorite DHC CD because of the fact that it features songs from ALL of there wicked albums (which I encourage you to buy if you don't have them already). The Live Record makes you feel as though you're at the concert, screaming and rockin' out with all the other fans! This is a MUST HAVE CD for any ska/pop/punk fan! So why are you still reading this??? Go and get this amazing record right now!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for fans of live music!!!, July 27, 2001

As a big fan of seeing bands live, I am often disappointed by attempts to capture the energy of live shows on CDs. More often than not it just doesn't work. I bought The Live Record on the recommendation of a friend, and was extremely glad I did.

Not having heard DHC before picking this album up, I was amazed at the energy and vibe that the whole band brought through on the CD. Great sound, great energy, fun songs, witty lyrics, and two great female lead vocalists - this live album is truly one of the few that is incredible from top to bottom.

This is a must buy for any fan of live show CDs, for ska/punk fans, for fans of great female vocalists, or for anyone just looking for a great new band that many people haven't heard yet.
