5.0 out of 5 stars UNMATCHED IN TALENT, August 4, 2000
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
This is by far the best CD I have ever owned. Bob Weir's vocals are incredibly strong and beautiful. Rob Wasserman is a master and his sound is like no other. It is amazing that there are only 2 musicians and 2 instruments on this CD. "Looks Like Rain" alone could carry this CD. Every single song is awesome. I can't say enough about it - buy it and you'll see !

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Music, for the Bob Fans, February 7, 2001
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
Bob Weir certainly takes his licks from a lot of Deadheads, but I don't count myself among them. I have always thought Weir's contributions were underrated, and several of his tunes are showstoppers. A couple of these make an appearance here (i.e., "Throwing Stones" and "Looks Like Rain"), but they don't really match the full band versions. Of much more interest are the true Weir solo tunes, which get nice understated acoustic renderings. Listened to all in one sitting, this one gets kinda dry, but it is definitely a nice change of pace, and if you're a Bob fan like me (hey, I know, Garcia is Garcia, but that doesn't mean you have to hate Bob!), you should definitely own this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bobby at His Acoustic Best, December 4, 1999

Check out track six. A hauntingly beautiful "Looks Like Rain." I swear I can hear Jerry's mellow supporting rifts in the distant background! This album provides a nice visit back to the days of Heaven Help the Fool. Great job by Wasserman on bass, too. Thanks for a great overall listening experience!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleasant sounding....especially for any Dead freak., September 13, 1999

If you just listen to it for what it is, this album is great. Bobby sounds great, with very nice renditions of "easy to slip" and "shade of grey". I love the "victim" on this cd as well. I dont know what else to say. Its a great CD for lying in bed, solo or otherwise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bob Weir's Voice sounds Great!, July 20, 2004
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite Bob Weir recordings. Although it features only 2 musicians, Bob's voice is powerful. Since there is not a whole band behind him, you can really appreciate his "rock and roll" voice. It reminds of times when I saw the Dead, and Bobby's singing was right on target.

4.0 out of 5 stars "aimless noodling" aint necessarily a bad thing, January 13, 2001

This CD is meant for moody rainy days spent by the fire. There is a comfortable melancholy of "This Time Forever" and "Shade Of Grey" that many might not really be interested.

The acoustic guitar and stand up base format certainly isn't for everybody. I've got to admit there are months that I don't listen to it, but on that rare occasion it really does hit the spot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great acoustic music, November 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
This album is an excellent example of Weir and WAsserman's musical skills. It has a unique acoustic sound with a bass (not a guitar) that produces a wonderful body shakin' sound. INcludes hits like "Fever", "Victim or the Crime", and "Throwing Stones". I recommend this album highly for anyone who enjoys acoustic sounds. No drums, just an acoustic guitar and a bass!
