Editorial Reviews

Deluxe CD/Blu-Ray edition. On July 6th, multi-platinum-selling British band Muse took to the stage at Rome's Olympic Stadium in front of a capacity audience of more than 60,000 euphoric fans. This package showcases the most extravagant set built and spectacular stage show of any Muse tour to date. The band take the audience on a mesmerizing journey using pyrotechnics, expansive digital screens, and a troop of actors to accompany their epic playlist of 20 tracks, mixed in incredible surround sound, including hits from their most recent studio album The 2nd Law, as well as classics such as "Uprising," "Madness," "Supermassive Black Hole," "Starlight," "Time Is Running Out," and "Knights of Cydonia."

I was very lucky to see Muse put on a phenomenal show at Madison Square Garden in April 2013, and have been a huge fan for years. My first impression is - this CD is phenomenally produced. It does a great job translating the energy of the crowd, which really adds to the music. The mixing and camera work are both absolute top-notch; if you've been getting by watching YouTube clips of the band, boy, are you in for a treat. One thing I enjoyed in particular is that the live instruments - the drums and bass in particular - came through much clearer and more raw than they do on the recordings, giving the overall sound a more hard rock sound, which I personally loved.

However, the best part of the CD for me was the energy of the crowd and how the band seemed to respond. Matt is on fire, and you can tell Dom and Chris are having a blast. Muse have called this show their best of the tour, and I can see why.

One last thing - get the blu ray if you can! I got the DVD, and while it's still wonderful, I'd really appreciate the phenomenal 4K quality.

I own all of Muse's CDs and Concert DVDs and never get tired of their music or concerts. Live At Rome Olympic Stadium sounds and looks fantastic and is a great addition to their body of work. The sound quality is the best of any Muse DVD. The set and light show is a marvel all its own.

The 2nd Law has not been my favorite Muse CD, but after viewing the concert I want to give some of the songs that I tended to pass up on the CD more play. Follow Me, Guiding Light, Explorers, and Panic Station were more commercial than I tend to like, but I enjoyed them very much as part of this concert. Supremacy, Knights of Cydonia (with it's haunting harmonica intro), Animals, Follow Me, Hysteria, Feeling Good, Madness, Time is Running Out, Supermassive Black Hole, and Uprising were my favorites in the Rome concert. Time is Running Out has to be one of the best concert songs of all time.

I saw Muse perform live at Uncasville, CT this spring with the same pyramid set they used in the Extras songs; having a recording of this set is a particular treat for me. Stockholm Syndrome sounded edgy and raw compared with the Rome concert. The use of the pyramid with the haunting blue eye is visually captivating. Unsustainable opened the US Arena shows and the song and light show exemplifies Muse's creative range. We also get to see Chris sing lead on his song, Liquid State. The final Extra is a short film called The Road, set to the music of Animals, it is a look at the roadie pre- and post-production activities that goes into the concert experience. Don't miss any of the extras.

The editing of the concert is less frantic than for the H.A.A.R.P.

First off, "Yes this is a Blu ray/cd for only $14.99." Unbelievable value, especially for what I believe to be among the best live concerts of any band I've ever seen. I've been a Muse fan for several years, and though I love every live DVD they've done, Matt's exuberance has sometimes gotten him into trouble vocally in the past live recordings. Not so here. He seems to be in perfect control through his astonishing range. I watched this concert twice back to back, and plan on watching it again tomorrow. Oh, and to Amazon, I'm sorry I went elsewhere to buy it, but I just had to have it same day. I didn't realize that was an option with you guys until it was too late. Buy it now. Don't hesitate!

It's simply the best video concert in blu ray that I've ever seen. And I own more than 50 concert blu ray...
The images are stunning, nothing else is comparable to this for clarity, detail and definition, also with low lights.
The DTS HD-MA 5.1 audio track is powerful, precise and well calibrated. Super-highly recommended!!!

I attended their show in Washington, DC last September and it was hands down one of the greatest shows I've ever seen in my life. More recently I've seen Prince, Madonna, P!nk to name a few heavy hitters and they were all fantastic, but if you were to ask me which concert I want to go back in time to experience again, I'd choose Muse's show. Their presentation was the best, bar none. The pyramid was nothing short of epic and the atmosphere melded perfectly with their music. Simply put, their show was like a religious experience.

So I couldn't wait for the tour DVD to be released. Turns out this is what we get for The 2nd Law tour, their Rome Olympic Stadium show. After watching it I was slightly disappointed if I'm being honest. Their set was great, but the pyramid that they used for the US dates absolutely can't be touched. And they incorporated the lasers. That was next level stuff and I popped in the DVD hoping to relive just a little of what I did that night. The closest we get on this disc are a few US dates that utilized the pyramid. Those few numbers felt like a completely different show to me so I wish they would have recorded a full US date to better capture the experience.

I also didn't like the sound editing. Sometimes Matt sounded a bit muted, especially compared to the tour CD which sounds a lot better. He sounded amazing in person. My live Muse experience was just a perfect night that can't be replicated, even with this Blu-Ray. YouTube fan videos don't scratch the itch. The only thing left is for them to crank out new music and tour again! I'll be there with bells on and I might try to catch two shows. I hope they consider releasing another blu ray with the pyramid but I'm not holding my breath.

Does it include the video?
This is a CD/Blu-Ray combo. The blu-ray has the movie on it and the CD has the audio, but both have different track listings.

No transforming pyramid made of monitors?
Don't worry, the Rome concert is amazing, and a this blu-ray is a steal at Amazon's price. And there are three additional songs from "video pyramid" concerts in the extras.
