5.0 out of 5 stars Keen is keen at the Ryman!
I have REK in live format on 3 CDs and 2 DVDs and although this one does not have any "story telling" on (like Live Dinner #2), it is the best. I can't wait to get it on DVD when it is released in early October! The song selections - we all could want more - are some of his best and the music (the band rocks) makes you want to take the CD, your pick-up truck and your...

definitely not #2 live dinner. no cool stories, nothing different than listening to the album version with some people yelling in between songs. a couple of cool solos by rich brotherton & marty muse, but other than that, save your money. i am a very long time fan and hate to have to write a poor review.

I have REK in live format on 3 CDs and 2 DVDs and although this one does not have any "story telling" on (like Live Dinner #2), it is the best. I can't wait to get it on DVD when it is released in early October! The song selections - we all could want more - are some of his best and the music (the band rocks) makes you want to take the CD, your pick-up truck and your cooler of beer out to your favorite drinking spot and turn it up to 10 and stay all night (and hitting the replay button) listening and sipping on your cold Shiner Bock! Great renditions of Feelin Good Again, I'm Comin Home, What I Really Mean, and Gringo Honeymoon (I want to do this with my wife) for the lover in you; Shades of Gray, Amarillo Highway and Corpus Christi Bay for your rowdy side; and The Road Goes On Forever over 10 minutes long - first five with lyrics and last five with rockin instrumental by the band - that will be a real treat on DVD. I am guessing that this was done near Christmas given the rendition of Merry Christmas From the Family - but it is a good one. Bottom line is that this is a gem and a real keeper. Buy it TODAY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, August 6, 2008
This review is from: Live at the Ryman (Audio CD)
I have met REK twice now and it's not about what songs he plays or what albums the band puts out. He loves to sing and play with the band. The only reason that they play is because they love it. I really doubt he wants to turn everything that he is around just to be taken "seriously". That's just stupid to think if you've ever met the guy. This is a person who just simply loves music and loves to play. Everyone who's ever gone to one of the concerts knows that he stays until every person gets a signature and he's met every single person in line. I got treated badly by some of the staff at a concert and Marty Muse took me personally up to the stage to get a signature from every person in the band. You may not like every song on the album, as you may not like every song that they play in concert. However, I love every song because they play from the heart, not to please the fairweather fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars good stuff, January 4, 2008

I've been blasting this CD in my car for the past couple of weeks and enjoying it immensely. Guess that other reviewer has a different idea of what songs are good - I really like ALL the songs in this set, even the loud version of FFO. In fact I actually like this version of Merry Christmas more than any other, and the Corpus Christi Bay rendition is interesting too. The sound is fine. I don't care that it doesn't have much chatter. There are also 4 songs from What I Really Mean that I haven't seen on a live album before. Taken on its own merits it's a fine album, don't know what the 1 star reviewers are thinking.
