This review is from: Live in San Francisco (Audio CD)
By March of 1975, Peter Frampton was a headliner in San Francisco on the strength of his past concerts performances there. Unlike: Genesis or Deep Purple, who both had huge followings with the rock fans of the Bay Area, the audience of a Peter Frampton concert was just a bit different, instead of pimply-faced teenage boy's there was a large amount of SCREAMING GIRLS in the crowds whenever he played Winterland. And, this was WAY COOL.

I had a ticket for the Friday night show, March 21st, but as I was just getting over a bout with the chicken pox, I could not attend, but my pal, Sam did go and he promised to bring back a copy of the show on tape for me.
Not hearing from Sam I had to fly out of Travis Air Force Base on Monday, March 24th to report to my ship (USS VEGA) that was already somewhere in the South China Sea. Late in April, I received a small parcel from Sam when my ship got to the Philippines. And it was a good audience tape of the Friday show and as a bonus there was a copy of a KSAN radio broadcast that Peter had recorded on March 24th. The tape jump-started right in the middle of the tune: "Somethin's Happening" and it was real nice to here Peter without all those screaming girls that were on the Winterland tape (they were LOUD). Sam said that Peter was coming back to Winterland in June for a special "Thank-You" concert and he would have a ticket waiting for me.

I got home to the Bay Area the first week of June. On the 14th Sam and I and all those screaming girls attended the show that most of: "Framptom Comes Alive" was recorded at...

This little gem of a CD is a pristine copy of the KSAN radio show of March 24, 1975. Recorded at the Record Plant Studios in Sausalito. This is the full band that features Peter, with: Bob Mayo: keyboards, guitar & vocals, John Siomos: drums and Andy Bown: bass guitar & vocals.
This CD features ten songs:
1. WIND OF CHANGE
2. BABY, I LOVE YOUR WAY
3. SOMETHIN'S HAPPENING
4. DAYS DAWNING
5. LINES ON MY FACE
6. DOOBIE WAH
7. IT'S A PLAIN SHAME
8. I WANNA GO TO THE SUN
9. I'LL GIVE YOU MONEY
10. DO YOU FEEL LIKE WE DO

This is a Limited Edition CD of 5000 copies and this isn't easy to find. But, if you can find this, you will own the blueprint for: "Frampton Comes Alive!" And, you will have the proof of why Peter Frampton was already a superstar in San Francisco, in 1974-1975.
Hope you are able to locate a copy of this before they all vanish into fine record collections.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Recording by Peter Framton....Ever, May 12, 2008
This review is from: Live in San Francisco (Audio CD)
If you have never heard this recording before you are in for a treat. I call this the best playing and recording Peter and his orginal group has ever done, pro all the way. You get to hear every note the band plays and clearly shows what great musicians Peter and his band truely are. John Siomos on the drums is simply outstanding (reminds me of another great drummer Jim Gordon). John Siomos on the electric piano is brilliant, man those guys can play! This recoding is great because it was recorded LIVE without audience noise so you can hear EVERYTHING the guys are doing. Find it, play it, love it...Is is the BEST of Peter Frampton.

I was living in the Bay Area back in the early '70's and all of Frampton's records leading up to "that year" culminated in this particular set of songs. KSAN radio station was the hippest, most
innovative station at the time and I was constantly tuned in. This recording is priceless. If the price here is holding you back, gold is not going to go down either anytime soon. Because this recording is worth it's weight.... in gold.
