Saw the final stop of the tour on Maui. Kenny and Jimmy still have it...boy do they! This CD delivers. Great songs...voices...the band was killer. If you missed this tour you blew it. But now you can get this CD AND a DVD of Loggins & Messina in Santa Barbara. Get it....just for Trilogy and Same Old Wine...worth the dough just for those. I hope the guys keep at it. They sound way too good to end it now.

It's the same guys, the same great songs, but they've grown along with the rest of us. Musically, they're more seasoned - the voices are more resonant, instrumentals are awesome, the spirit and passion are still there. It makes me realize what we've been missing all these years. I suspect the reunion is a one-time thing, so just be thankful that it was captured on cd and dvd. Buy it and be prepared to be blown away.

If I hadn't attended two shows this summer and seen them live and in person , I would have thought "overdub city".
Not so.
I previously thought (being a musician myself) that the days of loving a concert were long gone.
I urge every fan (and non-fan) to watch and listen.
Also good for performimg musicians; to remind them of why people go to concerts !

Long time fan of these 2 guys. Sorry they broke up some 30 years ago, made great music. This CD shows how their music is still worth listening to, today. I have a few of their studio CDs and just purhcased the live DVD. WELL WORTH IT.

For some reason I wasn't expecting much of their reunion tour, so I didn't go when they came to the area. My husband got me the DVD for Christmas and I had to have the CD. I was a Loggins fan for many years starting in 1980, spending many teen and 20s days listening to old L and M 33s and tapes. If you like L & M music at all buy this CD. The musicians are SO excellent.

The whole show was great! So why did'nt we get the WHOLE show on CD?
Several of my very favorites are missing: Sailin' The Wind, Be Free,
Kind Woman, Thinking of You, Long Tail Cat, Growin'. Also, a new live
version of My Music would've been great.

If they were going to cut tracks, I could've lived without:
Angry Eyes (much over-rated) and Vahevala. But, on second thought -
they should've given us the WHOLE DARN SET! Grrrr!!!!

I was lucky enough to attend one of the shows from this tour when Kenny and Jim stopped by my hometown in the mountains, four summers ago.

This CD is one of the results of that tour, as was the DVD, {a poster, was the only Loggins & Messina product, available for purchase at the 2005 concert.}

With: "Watching The River Run", "Peace Of Mind", "Your Mama Don't Dance", "Changes" "Angry Eyes", "Danny's Song" & "Nobody But You" included here, you DO have an updated Greatest Hits package, performed by {Still} two great voices, backed by an excellent supporting band. What you DON'T have is the rest of the concert. Without: "Be Free" {for many in attendance, the highlight of the entire show!} and the rest of the missing songs, this CD doesn't capture the good ol' timey feelin' of Loggins & Messina.

As it is true, that a double CD set, will not sell as many copies as a single disc package, we at least, have the answer to the question of just why: "Sittin' In Again" was shortchanged for CD release. This CD, is quite simply unfair to the fans of: Kenny Loggins & Jim Messina. And the addition of the nearly new tune: "Same Old Wine" that will make you wonder, just what the new material {no new material was produced for this reunion} would have been like.

But of course, there is the DVD of this concert, and if you want to hear and see the rest of the show, now you can do so {at a small additional cost!)

As a fan of Loggins & Messina, I will bite my lip and say I am glad this CD does exist. But, as a fan of Loggins & Messina, I do feel cheated by the way the tour products have been produced. This is a "Cash-In, Get-Out" approach at the marketing end of this deal. Back porches have been replaced by Loggins & Messina merchandise.com. This could have been a five-star CD package if produced in complete form, but as it stands, in this manner, I feel a bit cheated by what was done.

These guys are just great songwriters, singers and players. Their talents just blend together so well, and on this CD it comes through better than ever. The band is tight, the vocals are right on, even after all these years. The way the songs are presented shows how much these guys like playing them. You can hear how much they are enjoying playing together again, it seems almost as much as the audience. A real good live performance from a classic rock band that can play any style from "Your Mama Don't Dance" to "Same Old Wine" and "Vahevala."

I am more of a progressive rock and jazz fan than I am of this kind of music, but I have always like these guys all way back to the seventies. Kenny Loggins just has such a perfect voice for folk music ("A Love Song" "House at Pooh Corner") and Jimmy Messina adds his unique country jazz touch. They were willing to experiment with different kinds of music and always have a tight band with them. The songs "Same Old Wine" "Changes" "Vahevala" and "Angry Eyes" are my favorites on the CD. Want to listen to music that reminds you of a warm summer night with a cold one in your hand, this is the one. 4 stars with something for almost everyone.

I'm no music critic, and this is not new music. Those of you who are fans of this duo or have an appreciation of music from this era should enjoy this if you haven't already heard it. The sound quality of this disc is fantastic. Amazon is the best place to experiment with new or new-to-you music. You can sample it online, and if there's any doubt, buying used CDs at such a deep discount makes it practically risk free. I wholeheartely recommend this disc to everyone -- it's complex, diverse, uplifting, and family friendly without being childish or "bubblegum". Truly a feel-good piece of entertainment.

Though a little older, these two have not lossed a thing. Great setting outdoors, great sound, great performance, and a great band. You will not be dissapointed with this DVD. A must for all Loggins and Messina fans!
