I saw this group, with a different pianist, perform many of these songs in 2002 at the San Jose Jazz Festival. It was the first time I saw Bernstein play, and boy, is he ever good. Jimmy Cobb, the legendary drummer of Miles Davis's Kind of Blue contributes wonderfully here; John Webber is one of my favorite bassists, and the piano player is pretty damn good as well. All of these tunes are great, but Gershwin's Love Walked In is just a knockout. It blew me away in San Jose and it's just as good here.
Any serious jazz fan will thank you for recommending or giving this disc. Bernstein is a guy who loves to do what he does, and you'll love it too!
